The Jazz can stay alive if they do well today and tomorrow - they visit the Mavs today and host the 76ers tomorrow. Both games should be winnable but they've fumbled away better opportunities of late. If GS whups the Lakers tomorrow at GS and Utah wins both they'll be even - Jazz have the tie breaker so they'd be back in the 8th slot.
After that they both have 11 games with roughly comparable opponents. The Lakers only have two real 'gimmies' - Dallas and NO at home. They play Minnie, Milw, Sac and Portland on the road and all of them have put together good games recently. The remaining five are teams with better records in LA. Utah has slightly tougher opponents but 7 home games. I expect whichever one can squeak out 7-4 will get the eighth spot.
