We managed to get some picks and some bodies in here with a potential future star in Knight. It's a calculated risk worth taking. The alternative was to keep what we have and go nowhere and let the guys we have on the roster walk or have a fire sale for them later. It's worth the risk.

I'll try to find the link again but I tried to find it last summer and I was unsuccessful.


We didn't get any picks from the Knight trade, the picks we got were all from the Dragic trade. We could have still gotten those picks even without trading away the LAL first rd pick. Alternate would have been using the remainder of the 2-3 month season to find out what we have in guys like Goodwin, Bullock (both SGs) and Warren by giving them heavy minutes.

I am shocked at the above fines. So, the NBA is basically saying you can charge at a guys mid-section and tackle him .... And you'll only be fined 15 K ???

What am I missing here? I feel like the 12th men on teams can just go in games, try to instigate stuff with stars, and then TACKLE them. What will happen is both guys will get ejected ... I'm confused. I'm not sure what Len was supposed to do when Whiteside's arm/elbow came crashing into his shoulder/head area. The natural reaction to that is what Len did ... There was nothing "natural" about Whiteside's tackle.

If teams are smart, they'll be using much more cheap shot tactics from their "3rd string centers" against opposing stars.

The NBA set a dangerous precedent ... The next Earl Barron dunk, he better be jumping into a star big on the other team - Which would then lead to that star big pushing Barron a bit ... Then I guess Barron can just tackle the "star big" down, both will get ejected, and Barron will get hit with a little 15 K fine (well worth taking the star player out of the game)

So Len is considered the perpetrator and fined the most of the bunch. How can one look at the video and reach this conclusion? This was not the first time in the game where Whiteside came down on Len's head and shoulders. I think NBA looks like hypocrites in how they treat different players.

I wouldn't know what threads to look in but it happened right after the Bledsoe trade. Jeff said they wanted to have two guards on the floor that could run the fastbreak - two targets instead of one for the outlet pass. I don't recall reading that he pitched the idea to McD but both of them had earlier said that they were on the same page - with no reference to two PGs - though they both said they wanted to use the fastbreak heavily.

I suspect quite a few people didn't catch it because there has been pretty constant claims that the FO was saddling Horny with a line up that he didn't want - reaching a fever pitch following the addition of IT. About that trade McD said they saw it as building on their strength and I never read Jeff talking about that acquisition specifically.

So are you saying McDonough is providing what Hornacek wants with the two PG offense? If true, Hornacek may be a big part of the Suns problems. The GM is supposed to provide the coach the players he needs and it looks like McDonough has done that.
