At least fans had the opportunity to question coaches directly on sports radio. It may not have been the complete picture but it was something.

I agree the PR seemed better back then. Maybe part of that was the way Jerry Colangelo operated.

Also the "high speed" sports wire couldn't be beat.

"Hacksaw" says hi.
Yeah nothing beats the "this just is on The High Speed Sportswire" except for finding out there was only 34 seconds left on The Longines Clock. He was a goof but before Lee we really had nothing resembling sports talk radio in the valley. Most of our information came from Gilmartin or the likes.

Lee Hamilton made it exciting. I was a follower. Now I hardly ever listen to sports radio although I check out the podcasts.

When there was hard copy newspapers, I read the Suns and ASU articles several times over.

No one is trading for CP3 at that salary we are paying him this next season!

Lakers would. We'd have to take Westbrook though. Funnily enough, they have about the same guaranteed money left on their contracts.

CP3 and Shamet for Westbrook. LOL!

His contract isn't that bad. He has $15 million guaranteed after this next season which can be waived and stretched over 5 years. It's far from untradable.
I know, but I was talking about this upcoming season. We are pretty much stuck with CP3 this upcoming season.

Okay. I am embarrassed to give even a hint of playing GM, but I did it anyway. Laugh at me.

The need to find a backup and eventual replacement for Chris Paul is at least as urgent as solving the DeAndre Ayton problem. So what can anyone tell me about Malcolm Brogdon, an Indiana Pacers guard I am not very familiar with except to know that he's taller than Paul? Rumor says the Pacers have been interested in acquiring Ayton. What if the Suns could sign-and-trade Ayton for a package including Brogdon? Would he be the best plausible backup/replacement for Paul? Of course he can't be as great as Chris Paul, but can anyone?

He’s the walking wounded. He’s always hurt. It’s like there’s always something going on with him. There’s a reason they traded for Halliburton

If the Suns do a sign and trade with Deandre Ayton they need a point guard in return. A lot of teams can't offer a point guard I like.

They might not want to do business in conference but the Kings could offer: Davion Mitchell, Rachaun Holmes, filler and #4.

The Kings would have to draft a player the Suns like at #4.

They need a starting PG or a starting FC player in return. If the Suns ends up getting scrubs and bunch of useless picks they are admitting drafting Ayton was a complete miss. If they let him sign an offer sheet and don't match? Same.

If the Suns received an early draft pick included in a sign-and-trade plus a good young player, this might be the most they could hope for. Good young point guard prospects are hard to find.

Suns might be enticed by the opportunity to draft a play maker with an early pick to groom behind Chris Paul.

If the Suns traded with Detroit, Killian Hayes (20) might be interesting.

I don't know much about him but his numbers for his rookie and sophomore seasons are pretty underwhelming.

Yeah, I'm trying to rub two sticks together to find a young play maker.

I wonder if Portland would part with Anfernee Simons and #7. Maybe they include Nassir Little or Josh Hart.

Then you are admitting the playoff run is over. If the Suns think they can continue this run by adding a "good player" and potential? They are kidding themselves. Realistically it might be all they can get. I agree. However, you don't subtract one of the main pieces of your run and say the run isn't over. Fans are not that dumb. You might as well ship out CP3 as well. If you don't get close to equal value the run is over.

I'm trying to find a young player, an early draft pick and a useable veteran in return in a sign-and-trade. The Suns are unlikely to get equal value in return.

Again, I agree. However, I will say it again. If you can't get a high impact player you are admitting the run is over. If the Suns take on a guy who can fill a roster spot and a potential that will never equal Ayton's contribution? The run is done. It's going to take more roster moves to take another crack.

If the Suns can't get close to equal value? You might as well do whatever takes to keep Ayton and take another run.

The Suns put themselves in this position, not us. I think they have one more run in them. I'd like to find a trade that could help them now and in the future.

It's a reach, but after a sign-and-trade the Suns could cluster expiring contracts, future draft picks and Cam Johnson or Mikal Bridges in a trade for a star.

I am not blaming the fans. Where did I do that? No doubt they could get some pieces but keyword is future. Not now. Nothing short of like value is going to help them make another run. As you suggested they would definitely have to make more moves to get back to a legit run.

I think these combos are pipedreams. I don’t even think we could pry away Anfernee Simmons much less get the 7 pick too much much less get them both plu another young player. I think some of you are going to be really REALLY disappointed

Like it or not. If we can't get close to equal value, Ayton is the best option we have for another run.

How many teams who play for championships are completely rebuilt and go to the finals within a year or 2 of a rebuild without their core players?

All this mixing & matching and nothing about building. Championship teams are good because they are allowed to develop into champions after going thru the lumps & bumps needed to develop.

Going thru some things together builds chemistry and develop players. That's key ingredient. Knowing your teammates where & what your teammate does best.

"Moneyball" almost worked until it didn't and it was never really duplicated. You want to build a winner you have to invest time & money in one.

Keep Ayton add, tweak the other players Monty likes the best. Stop making your players disposable. Then the Suns can win again.

If the Suns can't get anything of significant value in return for Ayton, they should keep him. I think we all agree on this.
