At least fans had the opportunity to question coaches directly on sports radio. It may not have been the complete picture but it was something.

I agree the PR seemed better back then. Maybe part of that was the way Jerry Colangelo operated.

Lee Hamilton made it exciting. I was a follower. Now I hardly ever listen to sports radio although I check out the podcasts.

The need to find a backup and eventual replacement for Chris Paul is at least as urgent as solving the DeAndre Ayton problem. So what can anyone tell me about Malcolm Brogdon, an Indiana Pacers guard I am not very familiar with except to know that he's taller than Paul? Rumor says the Pacers have been interested in acquiring Ayton. What if the Suns could sign-and-trade Ayton for a package including Brogdon? Would he be the best plausible backup/replacement for Paul? Of course he can't be as great as Chris Paul, but can anyone?

They might not want to do business in conference but the Kings could offer: Davion Mitchell, Rachaun Holmes, filler and #4.

Then you are admitting the playoff run is over. If the Suns think they can continue this run by adding a "good player" and potential? They are kidding themselves. Realistically it might be all they can get. I agree. However, you don't subtract one of the main pieces of your run and say the run isn't over. Fans are not that dumb. You might as well ship out CP3 as well. If you don't get close to equal value the run is over.

Again, I agree. However, I will say it again. If you can't get a high impact player you are admitting the run is over. If the Suns take on a guy who can fill a roster spot and a potential that will never equal Ayton's contribution? The run is done. It's going to take more roster moves to take another crack.

It's a reach, but after a sign-and-trade the Suns could cluster expiring contracts, future draft picks and Cam Johnson or Mikal Bridges in a trade for a star.

I am not blaming the fans. Where did I do that? No doubt they could get some pieces but keyword is future. Not now. Nothing short of like value is going to help them make another run. As you suggested they would definitely have to make more moves to get back to a legit run.

Like it or not. If we can't get close to equal value, Ayton is the best option we have for another run.

How many teams who play for championships are completely rebuilt and go to the finals within a year or 2 of a rebuild without their core players?

All this mixing & matching and nothing about building. Championship teams are good because they are allowed to develop into champions after going thru the lumps & bumps needed to develop.

Going thru some things together builds chemistry and develop players. That's key ingredient. Knowing your teammates where & what your teammate does best.

"Moneyball" almost worked until it didn't and it was never really duplicated. You want to build a winner you have to invest time & money in one.

Keep Ayton add, tweak the other players Monty likes the best. Stop making your players disposable. Then the Suns can win again.

If the Suns can't get anything of significant value in return for Ayton, they should keep him. I think we all agree on this.
