The truth is we'll never know if Dario would have been a difference maker in that Finals. We can speculate all we want.

Well that's what he was getting paid for.. The fact that Dario was/is our 6-10 power forward and making roughly $ 10 million year while Giannis is a force of a 6-11 power forward and we were in the Finals for the championship where you have to step up your game for the chip then I kinda would expect Dario would have at least a shown some type of resistance to Giannis if he hadn't been injuried but Dario couldn't have done that and to think he could have is purely a dream. Dario a 6-10 finesse back up player who can shoot outside but can't rebound or defend the likes of an aggressive offensive player like Giannis. But a lot of other power forwards can't either.
Huh? Dario was getting paid to stay with Giannis? What in the world are you talking about?

Using the fact that he can't guard Giannis as a reason to get rid of him is bonkers. Tell me, how many players in this league CAN guard Giannis?

What are you talking about? Dario Saric is in the NBA and he's getting paid greatly to compete so that's exactly what he needs to do. I never said he had to stop Giannis. He does need to offer some resistance against the opposition is all. Dario has got to be up to the task and if not someone else will. NBA teams don't baby a player who's not up to par. That's how you get cut or traded. What do you want to give him some slack because he's not that good of a player? He was drafted by the Magic, he played for the Wolves, he played for the 76er's and now Suns as that's a lot of teams and he's only 28 year old. His name is always mention in a trade as a throw in so that tells you a lot. He wasn't that good before that knee injury so I'm wondering where is he going to be skill wise after the injury. I wish him well and hope he can come back this year and contribute.

All this talk about Antetokuonmpo. Am I the only person who thought that the Suns didn't do a good enough job of stopping the other Bucks players and that's just as much why they lost? If you can't shut down the opponent's best player, shut down his teammates, because one player can't beat you alone unless his name is Hakeem Olajuwon. I was always unhappier about what their backcourt got away with. That Khris Middleton dropped 40 in one of the losing games and averaged 24--Khris who?--and at that at times Jrue Holiday outplayed Chris Paul.
Kris Middleton was right on target no question about it & is legit as hell along with Jrue Holiday and Giannis as the Bucks did their thing. Giannis had plenty help. I'm just hoping after last year failed playoff run against the Mavericks caused the Suns to get a feeling of job not finished & what it takes to be the Champs for this coming year!!!

They paid attention to the Phoenix Suns because they were actually exciting to watch. And if the league didn't have its head so far up it's collective but it would realize that people want to watch High scoring fun teams and not WWF in the playoffs also. There was that and Mike D never Learning how to use a bench. It wasn't coincidence that we went from having one of the worst/Nonexistent benches to one of the best immediately when gentry took over.

By the way, Amare displayed some shot blocking skills his first season. I'm not sure if they were coached out of him for fear of foul trouble… Justified fear, but overall he was a net negative defender. That Trio of Steve Nash, and old Shaquille O'Neal, and stoudemire was the worst pick and roll Defense I've ever seen. Fortunately they were among the best offenses ever, so it wasn't a total disaster.
That Duncan 3 as the nail in the coffin. Game 1. Man… has any team ever owned another team like the Spurs did us?

That was so disheartening. You knew it was in right when Duncan spotted up. It seemed arrogant for the Spurs to try that against the Suns because there's no way they run that play against the Lakers, Pistons, Mavericks, or anyone else they battled in the postseason around that time. They knew the basketball gods were in their corner against Phoenix though so they ran that grade school sort of switch play and let Duncan launch a 3 with the game on the line.

It was so painful, that it was comical.

Your first line was literally that was what he was paid to do.

I read Dario is playing well for his country and looks slimmer and faster than before.

I wouldn't say slimmer or faster but definitely as good as he was prior to his injury. I haven't watched any full games but I've watched all the highlights I could find and he looks like he did in the bubble.

Maybe he is slimmer now because I think he bulked up some for the 2020-21 season since he played a lot of backup Center. He was slimmer that first year with us because he was used as a PF more and didn't see much time at Center until the bubble.

He looks good and has posted good numbers as well. I'm glad he's able to work off some rust elsewhere. He should have a leg up on everyone else coming into training camp and the season.

Dario has a lot of tools in his toolbox. He is an average athlete with an above-average skill set.

If we win the Larry this year, you can say “Cheese is a stupid cheese eating son of a motherless goat!” and I’ll give you a REVEREND! in return.
Ok but ill have to step it up a notch.

He doesn't have to guard G anus he has to put his weight on him to tire him out for the 3rd and 4th. He has to be in the way to make G anus spit up the ball.
He has to make G anus go around him instead of through him like Jae and Cam do. He has to be 6 fouls when we need them.

Hell no Dario cant guard him but he would have helped.

And Finley before OT:

Eh… the Finley shot you can live with because it’s just a good shot from a guy who can hit the 3.

Duncan’s was just comical. Especially coming off is giving up the 3 ball to Fins to forceOT.

I reluctantly watched the highlights and Nash was robbed of an all time performance. In the 4th qtr and OT he was masterful.

Also Shaq in 30 minutes: 11 pts, 5 rbs, 5 fouls, 5 turnovers. Huge nothing burger.

Screw that entire season.

Didn’t Amare go off for 50 in that game also before fouling out on a BS call in double OT.

I remember after that, Nash hit a crazy 3 to tie it with like 6 seconds left in 2OT… but I knew it was over. He was on fumes by then and with no Amare, we’d be cooked if we even made it to 3OT. Then we just let Ginobli basically walk to the rim for an easy layup as time expired to put us out of our misery.

Taking a step back, you realize that was one of the greatest NBA playoff games ever… with us on the losing end as usual.

and then we just let

In the 2021 Finals, Ayton gradually stopped playing defense, probably because he was afraid of getting into foul trouble with no one behind him. If Saric had been available, Ayton might have been able to defend Antetokounmpo a little more honestly, and that certainly could have helped.

It's a shame the Suns couldn't make it work with Dragic even after two tries. He was a steal in the second round steal.

I didn't say what you're implying, that we should get rid of Dario because of his pIay against Giannis. Maybe your opinion of Dario Saric's ability is one thing and mine's is that of another. And that's alright with me but apparently not with you. I'm just saying for $10 million he needs to bring a little more to the table than he does as the Suns want to win it all. I'm just not impressed with his game that's all. It was once said at least "One Tme" that not everyone agrees with everyone else.... right? Sometimes it seems some players can be critiqued to the max and others can't be. So let's just agree to it rest ok?
