Yes, most players are that narcissistic. See Joe Johnson, James Hardin, etc.

Indeed they are. Most players care more about personal greatness than winning the whole thing. Kenny Smith has said many times on TNT that he would trade his career (2 titles and all) for Charles Barkleys with zero titles, but to be a HOF guy.

Did The Jet repeat it five times, as he did everything he said during the All Star game? "I told you, I told you, I told you!", even when he didn't. Obviously it is all about him.

He is a caricature of himself and hardly representative of the majority.

I'm not saying you're wrong but what are you basing your "wants to be here" comment on? As for his ethic, maybe it's just me but he doesn't look as lean or chiseled as I'd expect that type of player to be.

Ask and you shall receive.

I just don't see the point in trading Dudley for another role player. If he can be part of a package that nets a star player, fine (obviously he won't be the key part of such a package).

Thanks for that, he definitely said all the right things in that interview. I'd agree about not trading him for another role player, I don't see value in that. Still, he just doesn't seem to give the same never-stop effort out there as he did a few years ago. Maybe it's because we are an enthusiasm-sucking-black-hole kind of team or maybe I've just over-romanticized the Dudley of three years ago.

Even if his enthusiasm has waned over the past few years (whose wouldn't?), it should be a question of how it is now relative to his teammates and relative to the embarrassing position in which the suits at the top have put the on-court personnel and fans.

I would give JYD a high score. With the exception of one player or two, the disappointment rests heavily with the Front Office, not the players. And if any player has given up or doesn't have the intelligence to cope, deal with them separately. Jared Dudley is not one of them.
