The Phoenix Suns are showing the most interest in athletic power forward Hakim Warrick and have begun exchanging potential salary figures with Warrick’s representatives, according to sources close to the situation.

New York and Denver have also expressed initial interest, sources said.

Warrick himself, meanwhile, is said to still have some interest in re-signing in Chicago, where he finished last season after a midseason trade with Milwaukee. But the Bulls’ obvious first priority is their ongoing pursuit of multiple marquee free agents.

we were on track of 60 win season at the start of the past season. If Nash keeps his production over 40 min and 82 games, we will be in the WCF just as in 2006.

If for whatever reason Amare walks without sign-and-trade, then Warrick might be about all we can afford. But if we trade Amare and get the large TPE, we can do a lot better. So if we still only sign Warrick in that case, then it would be another cost-cutting move.

We knock Amare so often for his rebounds but it's in relation to his status as a star and a so called max player. Actually, his rebounding average puts him probably just above average for his position. There are a lot of forwards and centers that average fewer rebounds per game than he does.

Right, but that's only as long as we keep Amare's rights. If and when he agrees to a contract somewhere else, we should have between $5.6M to $6.4M (depending on how the Frye deal is structured) to work with, assuming all other free agents are renounced.

Btw, it's possible that Frye's contract pays a flat sum of $6M a year, but it's also possible it includes up to 8% raises. In the latter case, it would have to start at around $5.2M first year in order to get $30M in five years. Not that big of a difference, but could be useful.

The Suns won't have that much. With Amare gone the Suns would have in the neighborhood of 11mil in cap. Add the min cap holds and it's about 9mil cap space. Subtract Frye's contract which will start at over 5mil and the Suns will have less the 4mil to spend and 3 roster spots to fill.

Not according to any numbers I've seen. Where are you coming up with that?

Edit: Just saw your other post. Don't forget the minimum-contract holds, which knock off another $2 million or so.
