Two ONeals obtained on the same day, guess which one the Suns get?

Hard to believe this guy is only 33. He is going into his what, 16th, year in the NBA? Fills a roster spot, not likely to contribute much. Maybe could be included in a trade later.

Good lord...

:barf:

Awfully dramatic for a veteran minimum deal occupying the 13th roster spot. No real downside, upside is that the medical staff gets him healthy enough to be a solid backup center and he is traded at the deadline when Channing comes back.

Who knows, maybe the Lakers will trade us their 2025 first round pick for him if he is healthy.

He is a douche. An unlikeable player. And you guys put way too much faith in our training staff. They are good but they are not Gods. O'Neal has been a corpse for nearly 5 years. He is going to play backup center. I'd rather roll the dice on a UDFA. There is no point in signing an old washed up pile of garbage like Jermaine O'Neal.

I'm not a big fan of this move but this confirms the notion that Frye will return to being the backup C as he was in 2010.

O'Neal will likely will be the 3rd string center.

Jermaine O'Neal is one of my least favorite players ever... I'd rather take a flyer on a young guy .

He was not first choice as a backup center but who knows, he might surprise. Jared Dudley said a while back on twitter.

I'd rather have a young guy, but I'm not going to bemoan our 3rd string center signing.

Huh? Are you confusing Dwight with Shaq.

Because the front office is under the impression that perpetually fighting for the 8th seed is a great idea.

Um, you know unless he plays better than he has been, he'll be lucky to get any minutes at all after October.

Low risk, possibly high reward, but most likely low reward. Basically what any signing would have been outside of maybe Whiteside, who wasn't good enough to stay on the Kings.

He is an unlikable player, he whined about his role in Boston. Its hard to imagine he will be thrilled with playing 10 minutes a game on a lotto team.

I dont see the high reward. If he qualifies as "high reward" then I would think almost any player alive would also. Hard to think anyone would consider trading value for Jermaine O'Neal, even if we can miraculously keep him healthy he has not been a quality player for a while.

And for the roster fit, another face up scoring big man who is not good on the glass, we already have too many of these. Whats the point of adding another? ... an injury prone one who is well over the hill.

He's always been one of my least favorite players, so now we'll have two of them (Scola) on the roster next year. Just add Derek Fisher and complete the trifecta. :bang:

Basketball wise, I don't have a problem with it. We needed more size, and maybe we can squeeze a little life out of the guy. Whatever, it's not like he's crippling cap space or anything.

Maybe Horry could come out of retirement. ;)

I expected this ever since Dudley tweeted about him.

He actually had very good advanced defensive stats for the Celtics when he played from what I remember when I last checked.

He was on a team surrounded by excellent team defenders. I wouldnt expect him to be part of a strong defensive look here.

Enjoy Phoenix's inactive list, Jermaine.
At a stringbean 6'11" - 226 lbs., I hope you're right. But then, he can't play any softer than Frye, who is apparently going to be Gortat's backup when he returns.

Haven't the Suns learned? We need a real backup Center to keep from wearing down our franchise player.

I wanted Fesenko so you know how I feel. However, in the today's NBA where the elite teams rule, it doesn't seem to matter much especially while the Suns rebuild. Anyway, he is the 13th player on the roster. If he plays better than expected, great. If he can't play, not much difference for a veteran minimum type player. I must admit I wonder if the Suns medical staff can do anything to improve his chances of staying healthy.
