From AZ Sports, Wizards beat reporter Josh Robbins:

“Very smart guy, tremendous acceleration to the basket, can really score,” Robbins said. “The three-point shot in recent years has been below standards, although last year he shot 37%. He’s a willing passer. He’s going to be better offensively in Phoenix than he was in Washington, and especially in recent years when he would come off a screen, he’d be met by two guys.

“I imagine he’s just going to love to have the space that’s going to be created by playing next to two elite scorers. I think he’s going to be really good, maybe even great as a scorer.”

The Suns have plenty of speed and shooting but I want another power forward that can bang inside and fill the Aaron Gordon role.

Suns need bigger options at the 4 than Craig and Crowder.

I with you on that, I would like us to get bigger which is why i sour on Payne being a starter. Beal is 6-4, Book 6-6
Either of those two at SF is a recipe for disaster.

I want Payne to be penciled in as no more than a third point guard. He is a rotation player at best.

Payne is sort of like a sports car. I like him, but because of his build, he is subject to injuries.

DA at 7 foot is a plus. I am with you, if we keep Ayton, and get a large defender, for the fifth guy, I think we will be OK on defense.

I think regular season, which has more fast breaking than playoffs, you definitely play him higher minutes. Lower the other guys handling the rock. Come playoffs, if we have another big to play alongside Ayton, if still here, we would be OK for playoff basketball.

I'd really like another big to play beside Ayton as part of the rotation. This might improve his deficiencies immensely.

It would also help the depth at center.

Durant is more of a finesse power forward.

On defense i disagree, he can't bang but he surprised me in the playoffs just how good he is on defense too. I'm sure he had to step it up as it was really just him and Ayton out there with size. Okogie has hops but you just can't substitute that for height.

I'm not criticizing Durant's defense, but the Suns could use another big body at power forward. The Suns need some space eaters. Crowder and Craig lacked length. Ayton gets moved out of the way far too easily. The Suns can't be all about finesse.

Okogie should not be a starter. He should be a defensive specialist unless he can learn to shoot.

I don't think its physically possible for Ayton to play PF. I know that's what he wants.
He cant dribble and breathe at the same time. Actually he just cant dribble, anyone here want to see Ayton put the ball on the floor? GG
He refuses to drive to the basket and is suspect from 3. Actually he cant play center either.
Just tell Einstein he's playing the PF. I honestly doubt he knows the difference.

I'm just gonna say it again and I'll get ripped but we may be able to get Randall and or Toppin and a pg from NY for Ayton.
I know people here don't like Randall but he's a unit that can clog the lanes on D. If we can get him to play D
Anyway someone his size would be perfect.

KD can defend but Id rather have someone else taking contact.

I'm open-minded. I'd need to see the trade proposal.

Ayton can play center, he can't play power forward. He only played PF at Arizona because the Wildcats had a far more one dimensional guy already at the 5.

Also, the "two towers" thing doesn't work anymore, it would be especially terrible for the Suns. Our scorers thrive in the mid range... having 2 bigs and their defenders in there, clogging up the interior would be an abject disaster.

What if the other big can legitimately stretch the floor? Defense does seem to be a big issue with this as Ayton would be spending a ton of time on the perimeter defensively.

I see no point in it. Even if the other big was Brook Lopez, I'd rather have smaller, faster guys out there who can switch and run in transition.

The Timberwolves were the latest team to try out the "twin towers" and they have one of the best outside shooting bigs ever... their offense sucked, their defense was mediocre and they were worse than they were the year before.

We need Cam Johnson back. He and Durant would be a great forward combo. Then I don't really care what we do at center. Keep Ayton or trade for someone. I would even go with Landale and Biz.

Only way to get Cam back (I believe) would be to do a sign and trade having Cam's new deal equal Ayton's.

... just a hunch, but Cam turning down a 70-100 million dollar contract to play here on a 1 year minimum seems unlikely.

Gordon is a pretty unique player in todays nba. How many 6’8 guys can jump outta the gym, stay in front of point guards, handle the ball and shoot to three point range?

Larry Nance Jr. is AG type of athlet without the off. game. Actually, if the rumor of Zion for #3 or #2 pick goes through, I'd like to see DA for Vulan + Nance + picks trade. For NOs, it's youth and dev. potential vs. aging rotation players.

I am getting nervous about this trade. Is Beale as good as we think he is or is he a prima Donna ball hog on a bad team who will just look average when surrounded by real talent?
