Don't worry, the pick is now a Minn/Memphis 1st.

So that means if Memphis makes playoffs and Minny doesn't, then we get Memphis pick. And if Minnesota makes playoffs and Memphis doesn't, then we get Minnesota pick. But if both miss playoffs then we get nothing.

I wish Carey would post here to give some more insight on this. Every thing I just said ^^ I got from him.

This is how I suspected it was going to work. Curious which one it will be if they both make the playoffs.

Looks like a decent trade converting an underachieving Lopez into a mid first-round pick. But, let's not forget that Dragic for Brooks also seemed like a decent trade at the time. No one expected Dragic to do much in Houston, especially playing behind Lowry, just like no one expects Lopez to do much in NO. But a change of scenery and a new role can get a player going. How will the Suns FO look then?

Its already been confirmed that the pick is the Memphis pick

I thought it was "confirmed" to be the Memphis pick only? Was Coro right after all?

I am guessing that it would be the lower of the two. However, this is not confirmed :D

I don't want to nitpick but this is wrong. The Suns would get two second round picks if this unlikely event occurred. Now which second round picks can be debated.

A little more on the pick situation from Minn./Memphis

Paul Coro@paulcoro
Suns get MIN pick if not top 13 in '13 or '14 or top 12 in '15 or '16. If MIN gets top-14 protected MEM pick in same yr, Suns get worst one.

Griffen, you are correct sir. If, in any draft, Minny has both picks and they are non-lottery, the Suns get the lesser of the two picks.

Basically, we are getting the Memphis pick next year unless hell freezes over.

Yea I don't hold much value for 2nd rd picks, so I still stand by what I said, the Suns get nothing if that event occurred :D

It's funny to see you quoting Paul Coro after knocking him as noted in the post below.

Do you honestly take everything Coro says at face value?

This is the same guy who just waits for John Gambo, Adrian Woj, Marc Stein or David Alridge to tweet or post articles about news and then later Coro will post an article telling us stuff the obvious and stuff that we already knew.

And considering that none of those sources mentioned above have said anything about the pick possibly being the Timberwolves, I refuse to believe that it's an option just because Paul Coro, who has NO inside sources within the Suns organization btw, said so.

I mean when was the last time Paul Coro reported something about the Suns before anyone else?

Ok, I'll still say it "Coro does not have insider information"

Did you notice that when this trade became official this morning, John Gambo and Adrian Woj both reported it before Coro did?

I'll admit, Coro has more details of a trade or a player's contract AFTER its happened but he has no idea what is going to happen or what is being talked about inside the walls.

And the Suns probably released a statement to the press by now stating all of the info cause I know the Hornets have already done so.

We do not agree, so be it.

It's easy to tweet something quickly. It takes longer to put out detailed information as Coro usually does. Coro couldn't give out all the details of a transaction in real time if he did not have "insider information." Again, he is the Suns beat writer. If you want something definitive on a Suns trade, Coro is the best source.

Looks like it's a done deal:

NEW ORLEANS -- The Hornets, Suns and Timberwolves say a three-team deal has been completed that will send 7-foot center Robin Lopez and forward Hakim Warrick from Phoenix to New Orleans, while moving forward Wesley Johnson and a first-round draft pick from Minnesota to the Suns.

Word of the multiplayer trade first broke on Wednesday, though the final version had minor changes.

The deal sends the contracts of Jerome Dyson and Brad Miller from New Orleans to Phoenix. Minnesota receives three second-round draft picks in the deal.

The acquisition of Lopez fills a need at center for the Hornets, who traded away Emeka Okafor and let Chris Kaman go in free agency.

I think they'd look fine. Lopez was not doing the job here. Addition by subtraction. If we pick up a more consistent backup Center, good for us. And if Lopez does better, good for them. A good trade is the one that benefits both teams.

Heh, so theoretically the Suns could get a pick in the lottery after all, for example at #13 in 2015.

Every other source changes its mind about where Dyson is going. I wonder what the truth is.

#14 or #15 next year if Minn. finished in one of those spots and Memphis didn't make playoffs. But, that's very unlikely to happen.

I just don't understand how he could come to the Suns unless the transactions are separate. I thought Miller could not be packaged at this time?

Doesn't seem to matter since he will most likely be cut since his contract isn't guarenteed.

It likely is. They just report it as a 3 team trade for the sake of simplicity. With the new rules in the CBA transactions like this get complicated

Wow still a great deal. Picked up a "poential" starter(will have to beat out Brown/Dudley), cap releaf and picks.

So the depth chart right now is:

Dragic, Marshall, Telfair
Dudley, Brown
Beasley, Johnson
Scola, Morris
Gortat, Frye, Free agent to be signed

Ok. Not too crowded. Young, some players with promise. Dragic is going to be fun to watch.

In a van...down by the river.
Not a supporter of Lopez since he's been so unproductive, but i absolutely love getting rid of Warrick and his contract. Warrick wasn't going to be any good post-Nash anyway.

Good deal.

God, I know I'm not alone in this one but I just knew the moment that Warrick and Childress signed here that they were gonna flop...big time!

Then we traded for Hedo and made him our PF....

What a nightmare. Glad Babby cleaned up the mess Sarver left him.

People keep saying this, but Warrick had only $4M guaranteed left on his contract. His contract was never that bad to begin with, and the Suns already paid him most of what he signed for. Also, they sent the Hornets $1.5M in the trade to offset part of his salary, so essentially the Suns only saved $2.5M from his contract.

Swapping Warrick for someone not named Warrick however was a positive. Not that I particularly disliked him, but it seemed he already reached his ceiling and it wasn't very far from the ground.

This trade makes the roles clearer. Warrick was not going to get minutes and Lopez was not going to be happy as a backup. This gives Frye a more defined role as backup C.
