#13 (Richard Jefferson), #18 (Jason Collins), #23 (Brandon Armstrong) for #7 (Eddie Griffin)

Okay, that's a good one, thank you for the correction.

#16 (Troy Bell), #20 (Dahntay Jones) for #13 (Marcus Banks), #27 (Kendrick Perkins)

I don't think moving up from #16 to #13 qualifies. My guess is that moves like that happen fairly often.

Phoenix, New Orleans and Minnesota agreed to the structure of a three-way deal that would send Lopez and Warrick from the Suns to the Hornets and third-year swingman Wesley Johnson, a lottery-protected first-round pick and Brad Miller's contract to the Suns. The Suns would waive Miller, who has a buyout of about $800,000 and announced he would retire after last season.

Phoenix would get the first-round pick that Memphis owes to Minnesota via Houston. That Grizzlies pick already has top-14 protection for the next four years before it would turn into a second-round pick and cash in 2017.

The largest remaining issue is making the trade oblige with rules to get league approval. If the league rejects the trade parameters, Warrick would remain with the Suns and Lopez likely would remain with the Suns for his $4 million qualifying offer. In that case, Lopez would become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

It wouldnt be Stern. I am sure its a CBA issue, not the league office wanting to veto. And if its a CBA issue then you can bet its David Khan's screw up.

It is hilarious that they are giving away a pick and a top 5 pick from 2 years ago so they can toss 10 mil a year at Kirilenko. Dude was talking to the Nets about signing for the vet minimum, and Khan outbids them by 900%... he is a world class moron.

I don't really see what's the problem with the trade technically.

I guess, but why not just let New Orleans send them? And really, I dont think 2nd round picks are worth the hassle of putting heavy protections on. They're just fodder in a trade like this.

It's just a way of sending something for trade purposes, you can trade a protected 2nd that reverts back to the original team after a couple of years. My only point was the Wolves have already committed more money than they have available and have to move Johnson and the Suns should be able to absorb Johnson even without dealing with the Hornets.

Everyone has been criticizing this move but I don't think its so bad.

Kirilenko is still a pretty good player, a very good defender and a decent shooter too. Minnesota had MAJOR problems with not having a solid SF last year and Kirilenko is definitely that.

In a league where Jameer Nelson will be making 9 mil a year for 3 years and Jeff Green will be making 9 mil a year for 3 years, Kirilenko's deal doesn't seem to far fetched especially if it bumps them into a playoff team which I think it will.

Remember, Kevin Love basically said this summer that he's tired of missing playoffs and that he may opt out and leave if the team still sucks when he's a FA so Minny needs to do whatever they can to help them win now and this is just that.

I think most of these picks will be throw ins for other moves. They are not going to help us move up in the draft like it happens in the NFL. I just don't get excited about picks in the lower half of the 1st. They very rarely net you a great player.

I am just curious what the plan is here because unless the Suns royally suck next year where is our next franchise player going to come from? Seems like the Suns are just filling holes in a leaky ship which leads me to believe they want to trade for their next franchise player versus draft one.

Then again I could be entirely overestimated the Suns chances of playing out of the first few picks for the next draft.

NOH is having trouble getting the outgoing and incoming salaries to fit within the proper ratios because they are over the cap. They essentially want to trade nothing (Millers contract) for something. But rules don't allow them to trade Miller in a multiplayer deal this close to previously being traded. They can't split the trades because they have to bring in Lopez and Warrick together to match with Miller. Catch 22. Guess Demps isnt the genius everyone thought he was.

It looks to me like the Suns could do this deal if they were willing to keep Warrick. So how about we be nice and keep Warrick. Let Minny send the Memphis pick to NO and we get the Hornets 2013 pick unprotected?

Suns are trying to get every pick in the draft so that way theyll know they drafted the best player in it.. Problem is, that draft will probably be the worst draft in 50 years..

This sounds like a sticking point. Is there an update? Even if the Suns keep Warrick, that doesn't help, because the Hornets need to create salary room for Lopez, right?

Basically, they'll have to include something (Aminu, Vasquez, Henry, Smith, etc) that adds to $3.4M or so. They could also exclude Minnesota and send Miller over along with a first round pick for Lopez.

We can deal with the Wolves directly. We can take Johnson and a first round pick without sending anything of any value over. They'd have to include two second round picks they got from the Lakers, probably.

NO could also give up a draft pick or two for someone (fourth team) to take Warrick from us.

So, it's my understanding this can actually be a better deal for us if we deal with each team separately.

Interesting ideas Stefan... I hope we get something done where we come out on top. Fingers crossed!

If this goes through it's definitely a good trade for us. 1st round pick and an underachieving recent high pick (named Johnson lol) for a bad contract, fit, and positional glut in Warrick, and a good backup center that otherwise we'd need to commit money at a time when we shouldn't be?

Another move I can get behind. Though I don't like the whole, could become a 2nd rounder thing, Memphis is talented enough to make sure that doesn't happen and should be a pick we get for next year's draft.

Good stuff.

No, keeping Warrick would help since Miller's salary matches Lopez's new salary.

People always say that the next draft is the weakest draft in the last 25 years. They always turn out to be OK.

Last year's draft was god-awful just as it was projected to be. I hadn't heard anything about next year's draft being weak. I think that was Gee joking around.

Last year's draft was bad largely because of the uncertainty with the lockout. A lot of guys stayed in school who in a normal year probably would have left.

Next year's draft will probably not be as good as this year's draft, but there is nothing to say its going to be a bad draft yet.

There'll be no resolution on the Lopez/Warrick trade today but the 3-way deal's chances have improved. The hang-up isn't NO's cap situation.

Interesting. I wonder if some of the chips have changed.
