Press Conf from Blanks and the trade
Babby and Blanks Media Conference Call

Warrick wanted to be traded if possible, they spoke very highly of Warrick. Robin wanted to be a starter and asked if the Suns could find an opening.

Lance on Wes Johnson: Very excited to have him on the Suns, thinks he can go either way with his career. Wes needed a change, might play more 3 than 2 if he puts on some weight. Thinks Wes might have had high expectations and his confidence might have been shaken. Said he will be part of the new player develompent program. Also the system he was playing under was very restrictive compaired to the Suns system.

~ They were happy to get both the Pick and Wes, they wanted both otherwise the trade would not have gone through.

Warrick wanted to be traded, Robin wanted to be a starter, but was willing to come back

Of course. Robin was not going to develop as a player behind Gortat. Warrick was going nowhere here. I remember when Warrick first came, he really caught my eye in a preseason game I attended--alot of athleticism and a real presence on the court. I assume it was his absolute lack of defense that earned him a permanent spot on the bench. Someone had to sit there.

We got something for them and they might actually be productive in NO. We'll see. Robin was a decent shot-blocker for his minutes and while people criticize his D, his sheer bulk made him an obstacle of for opposing offenses.

That was an excellent horn honking interview. :)

Seriously what was that?

I wish the reporter had asked Babby or Blanks if the Suns intend to offer Johnson a 4th year option. He came close but failed to nail it down.

LOL. I read your comment and then listened to the conference. I was literally laughing out loud.

One reporter even commented it sounded like the World Cup.

Lopez is not a starter on a good team period. You can't have your starter rebound like he does. He is a career backup unless it's for a team that absolutely sucks. I guess all bets are off then.

Not sure why it still says "rumor" on the thread title.

Can I change my Suns off season grade from A to A+?

I will give you permission. :D

I'm guessing the Hornets knew about it before Robin took his physical or at the very least, the Hornets didn't seem bothered by it when he did take his physical. I can't see the Suns knowing about it and not telling. It's just not in their DNA.

Here is some more Robin Lopez information after the trade from Paul Coro at azcentral dated 8-5-12. It covers some of his medical issues plus some interesting tidbits, not all new.

Lopez worked hard and did develop his offensive game. He always found willing assistance for extra court work or video review with assistant coach Bill Cartwright, who was let go by the front office before his pupil's free agency began in July. Goran Dragic prided himself on being the only Suns teammate who could talk to Lopez but his friendship and return was not enough for Lopez, who told the Suns that he wanted to be a starter. The Suns contend that they made a similar finanical offer to the three-year, $15.3 million deal he got from New Orleans in a three-team sign-and-trade deal that netted the Suns a protected first-round pick and Wesley Johnson from Minnesota.

Lopez was steaming as he stomped up the exit stairs from the practice court and slammed the practice door so hard that the door-size pane of glass shattered.

Earl Clark, the rookie who could not learn plays, said, "There's something wrong with that dude."
