How about BJ and "whatever it takes" to philly for Winston Justice.
Can Justice even be traded at his point in the process????
If Wayne Hunter is still an FA then he is the best option. I would like to see Wells moved to RT and then give Lutui a shot at LG. We aren't in severe trouble, we have pieces that the coaches can work with. Milford Brown can play either Guard spot and either E. Brown, Wells, Wakefield, or Lutui can play RT.ajcardfan said:Impossible. There's no way Philly could absorb the cap hit. If you are looking for a trade possibility, you have to find a vet in the last year of his deal who his current team is not set on keeping. Almost certainly a backup on his current team.
Let's see who fits that criteria....
Anthony Clement!
Any others?
Exactly! We have to look forward. I'm not sure this is a huge overall blow to the team. Losing Ross hurts the run game, BUT Wakefield was a better pass-blocker than Ross last season.Redsz said:There is no point in even worrying about Ross now. We have to move forward with the current group of guys and hope they come together.
I think Elton Brown will eventually end up at RT. But I hope Wakefield can prove me wrong.

(I ask for technical reasons,, not because I think the y would even consider any realistic trade offers)
I see. So it's not that thet can't trade him, they won't.ajcardfan said:Because his entire signing bonus would accelerate onto the cap this season. Then, they would have to absorb Johnson's salary as well. While they might be able to do that (I'm not sure how much space Philly has left.), that's why trades are so rare in the NFL.
That makes it highly unlikely, but as soon Justice signed his contract the Eagles were able to trade him.ajcardfan said:Because his entire signing bonus would accelerate onto the cap this season. They could trade him before he signed his contract, too. See Manning/Rivers.BACH said:That makes it highly unlikely, but as soon Justice signed his contract the Eagles were able to trade him.

spanky1 said:Can't trade rookies....would have to wait until the 2nd year of his contract.I asked this question earlier myself.....thinking that Philly could really use BJ.joeshmo, I believe (perhaps Russ Smith, I can't recall) set me straight on this.

Of course, that said, the O-line's GOTTA perform better than they did in yesterday's drills. But the reality is that improvement won't come because we were able to add any new players. It will have to come from individual improvement and playing better together as a unit.
My hope too. But, in this era of "accountability", that kind of thinking is what get coaches fired. The O-line has to step up to the challenge.40yearfan said:Jeff, I'm hoping the reason they look so bad is because our DL is so good.

3. I think Mike Williams, the refugee Buffalo offensive tackle, won't make the team. He had to lose 37 pounds for Del Rio to even allow him to come to training camp (because he was so overweight in the offseason), and now he's not practicing because of a sore back. The third tackle seems more likely to be another failed first-rounder, ex-Lion Stockar McDougle.
