CBS Announces Survivor: Fiji Castaways
Source: CBS
January 12, 2007

CBS today announced the 19 new castaways who will compete in "Survivor: Fiji" when the 14th installment of the Emmy Award-winning series premieres Thursday, Feb. 8 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

"Survivor: Fiji" will feature a diverse cast of Americans who will begin the series as one tribe with plenty of supplies and resources on their island to make an exceptionally comfortable camp. On Day Three, the castaways will be split into two tribes, selected by one of their own as a result of events to take place prior to the first Immunity Challenge. The tribe that wins the first Immunity Challenge will return to the camp of copious resources while the losing tribe must relocate to a new island with only a pot, a machete and a water source.

In addition, throughout the series, at least one castaway in each episode will be banished to a separate island (Exile Island) miles away from camp. The castaways will learn that there is a Hidden Immunity Idol located somewhere at each tribe camp and that a new clue to their whereabouts will be waiting for the latest person sent to Exile Island. Such a twist offers the opportunity for more than one individual to be in possession of a Hidden Immunity Idol at the same time. These Hidden Immunity Idols may be played at future Tribal Councils if the possessor feels they are in danger of being voted off the island.

interesting start. yau-man is my favorite so far. dreamz better settle down or he's gone, fast.

interesting how rocky and erica didn't vote for rita. they had to know that jessica would be gone if they didn't make a play for rita. very underhanded.

I agree Yau Man totally reminds me of my dad(except he's Asian). That's exactly what my dad would say "it's simple physics the weakpoint is the corner."

I read an article where Jeff Probst says Yau Man is one of his favorite Survivor contestants ever.

He looks much smaller on Survivor than he does for the Rockets though?

So far I really dislike Dreamz, Rocky and Boo, this is Survivor not Flavor of Love, don't start the show with a nickname.

I like Sylvia too, very smart ass comment to Rocky asking what askew means "means not orthagonal" as if he'd know what that meant.

I don't like Dreamz, Sylvia or Mookie.

Undecided on Rocky. I like Yao Man. He is cool. I think the black guy that is on the Boston guys team is cool.

Not sold on Ericka yet. Don't like her complaining about the new camp.

It only took about eight minutes for that "Dreamz" guy to get on my nerves. He better not last long.

Show is off to a slow start this year for sure. I can't be the only one tired of hearing about how the one team has no water etc?

I was wondering if Yul winning last season was the explanation for why there is so many Asian players on this season but then I read a comment from Mookie that said when asked that question "we were shooting our season when his season was airing so none of us even knew who he was when we signed up."

I continue to really like Yau Man, he's a very clever guy, at his age, with his profession, you'd think it would be harder for him to fit in but he seems to have managed to do so.

i agree. he is far and away my favorite.

He's figured out how to gently push people into voting a certain way without them realizing he's pushing.

Last week at tribal he talked about staying strong, but made sure they knew he wasn't the weaklink. They were already thinking of voting Jessica off, he just reinforced it. This week he did the same thing pointing out they needed to vote to create a more "cohesive" tribe. Again he reinforced the way they were already considering voting.

I think he's going to go really far in the game, might be the oldest person yet to win it?

Yau Man peeking into Sylvia's bag looking for the immunity idol was so unstealthy I can't believe anybody there didn't notice. That part had me cracking up.

Yep that was very funny, and quite obvious.

Yeah that was hillarious. He basically just opened the bag like a little kid looking for candy. I can't believe no one else noticed.

I was surprised they voted that chick off. Without her finding the pineapples they would have been starving.

And Rocky was talking about her being a threat...well, you don't get rid of your strong players at this point in the game when your team needs to win.

Boy the losing tribe needs to win a challenge soon or they're in big trouble.

I assume the older guy with the breathing problems will sit out the next challenge for immunity so he probably won't be a factor, but if they finally lose he might go home.

Little better episode but still pretty slow.

The funniest part of the show was Sylvia in the first challenge, flops on her butt, then tries to slide and she sat there for 5 seconds doing the dog paddle going nowhere. Hello you have to be sliding for that to work, if you're not moving, trying to swim does nothing. Even she felt compelled to apologize for how bad she did in that challenge.

I also don't get why it took them so long to start fire when they have 3-4 people who wear glasses? I realize they're not magnifying glasses but come on it can't be that hard to use one or more lenses to focus the sun?

Sylvia's severe incompetence in the reward challenge was matched only by Anthony's weak attitude in the eating contest. How pathetic was that?

I'm not sure but I think the problem with starting a fire was that until that day it had been too cloudy out so they couldn't get the glasses to work.

Lisi looks pretty stupid for saying this about Liliana "In her little diabolical, Mexican mind."

I wonder how Liliana and the group will react to that quote when they all get together at the last episode?

i wondered about that. she said, right before that line (and referring to liliana), "i know what she's doing. i know how we think." i at first thought she meant "we" as in women, but then she said the mexican thing and i thought maybe she was part mexican? she (lisi) also seems to have a slight accent that i can't pinpoint. does stupid have its own accent?

also, dreamz, in an effort to not be a snake, says cassandra or lisi should go, but then proceeds to help in the blindsiding of liliana.

That was teh only part of the show I saw(watching UCLA play) but yeah I thought wow and I was picking on Yul he was nowhere near as bad as the comment she made.

Lisi is a total bitch, I cant stand her more than any of the other castaways (Dreamz is second, what a clown). Her idiotic comment didn't help either. She seems to be so smug for such a unnecessary team member. The tribe made a huge mistake voting out Lilliana, as both Cassandra and Lisi are almost completely useless in challenges.

This season has been totally lackluster so far.

Agreed right now the only person worth watching for me is Yauman and it's mainly because he reminds me so much of my dad. If my dad were Chinese, he'd be Yauman.

Worst survivor cast ever IMHO. Looks like they'll shake up the teams next week, definitely needed watching one team lose over and over is boring.

Please get Rocky off my damn tv set , how pathetic he calls out Dreamz, and then gets his butt whipped in the challenge. Pathetic.

Wow, there are just so many unlikable characters... Lisi (I loved watching her faceplant, by far the highlight of tonight's show), Dreamz, Rocky, Rita, Anthony, so on and so on. Its getting incredibly boring watching one team beat the other every single week, the show better have a good twist and quick.
