Taj Boyd really showed last night he could make every NFL throw. The back shoulder fade for the touchdown showed great touch and the multiple deep throws showed off his arm strength and accuracy.

Yep , I watched that game until the Colts -- Titans came on and then I jumped back and forth between the two . I'm thinking that Boyd will come off the board early in the draft . My hope is that the big School QB's will allow Jordan Lynch NIU to slide down to the Cards , you should Google this kid , he has some serious football skills . I saw him for the first time Wednesday night ,Northern Ill --- Ball State , and I was impressed big time with his overall skill set .

Not an NFL QB. A RB playing QB.

I wonder whether Steve Keim's decision to sign Clemson alum Jaron Brown was done with the possibility of drafting fellow Clemson battery-mate Boyd in mind.

We can only hope not Jeff! IMO Taj has mediocre skills & if we draft him BA will be fired in 2-3 yrs because of it.

This franchise needs to roll the dice & draft Meziel, or shoot for a trade up for a franchise QB. I sure do like everything about Meziel except for possible off the field issues.

Ehhh I was hoping for big things out of him coming into this year and he hasn't showed anything that has impressed me. He hasn't had a good season and his performance against Florida State really killed any NFL QB hype I saw in him.

Throwing the ball has never been the issue with Boyd.

Height shouldnt be a concern considering russel Wilson and drew brees performances.
We had very tall qbs in derek Andersson and Skelton and they played poorly ,just look at talent not at measures

I am more on the Derek Carr bandwagon. Particularly because I think ARZ goes OT or pass rusher Round 1. I also like the idea of taking Brett Hundley if not Carr.

I'm impressed with how objective you are, as a Horns fan, about Johnny Football. He is the one QB in this draft that will grab the reins as a starter immediately and take that team on a hell of a ride. His skills, and his swagger, make him the most exciting player in this draft.

The more I watch, the less impressed I get with the overall QB draft class. It is beginning to seem like a very deep class but not a bunch of great talents. Even my favorite Marriota has lost some of his shine. He looks hesitant to use his athleticism and take over a game which was highlighted vs Stanford. Also, I hate when a QB has to be forced and pressured into a leadership role. Not seeing he can't be a good player, but I am less sure than I was. Seems like a ton of Alex Smith and Aaron Rodger types coming out. Legitimate skills, but all seem to have some major question marks.

Just say no to Manziel. That is for Bucky.

The next big game that Boyd wins will be his first. He just hasn't performed well enough in those 2 or 3 statement games a year during his career at Clemson.

I think he'll be a fine pro but i worry about his frame. He plays thru pain but he can't try juking NFL LB/DB's like RG3...

I do think he'll run a sub 4.6 which most people disagree with // http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cq9ilhn3H4c

Plus great arm-strength = throw at 1:40 all upper-body dime // http://youtu.be/PJ8xVIgWEBY?t=1m36s

Marriota has been playing with a MCL strain for a couple of weeks and the Stanford front 7 took full advantage of that. He has not run at all today against Utah and his passing numbers are near perfect.

The "rule" is the stupidest thing in sports

Elite talents are an inch shorter than 6'2, yet guys will pine for a guy whos 6'5 and cant hit the broad side of a barn

If you can play, you can play.

I agee with this. Other than Bridgewater, and he looked pedestrian yesterday, it's hard to separate the #2 QB from the #9 QB. It's a matter of preference at that point. In no particular order, Hundley, Mariota, Carr, Manziel, Mettenbergerger, McCarron, Murray, and Boyd are the next rated QB's. You could make a case for any of them being the #2 QB. If I was to make a Cards pecking order to fit BA's style offense I would go:
1- Bridgewater
2- Carr
3- Mettenberger
4- Hundley
5- Murray
6- Mariota
7- McCarron
8- Boyd
9- Manziel

The nice thing is any of those guys could become very succesfull NFL QB's.

Good crop of qbs for this year draft. Probably only 2 or 3 will go in round one.

Bridgewater Louisville
Mariota Oregon
Carr Fresno State
Hundley UCLA
Boyd Clemson
Manziel Texas A&M
Murray Georgia
Mettenberger LSU

In my opinion---assuming all of these QBs enter the draft---all but Murray & Boyd will be 1st rounders. An early projection:

Round 1

Mariota---Jaguars
Bridgewater---Vikings
Manziel---Texans
Carr---Steelers
Mettenberger---Raiders
Hundley---Browns

Round 2

Murray---Titans
McCarron---Bears
Boyd---Cardinals

Boyd---Cardinals

If that indeed does happen, the Cards will continue to float in mediocrity at best! IMO Boyd just doesn't make enough plays to win games & that's a telling sign at the NFL level.

I prefer a guy who produces at a high level & when the games on the line, he by himself either wins the game or wills them to win...a big trait that matters at the next level.

How would you rank them In your opinion Mitch?

The problem arises when, specifically against top opponents, Boyd is sub 6'2 AND can't hit the broad side of a barn. I started this season saying Boyd would be a top 5 talent if he wasn't short, and now I believe he is a Matt Barkley type college player. Good skills, but has made his bones beating weaker opponents with superior pass catching targets and has yet to excel vs a top opponent.
