Don't know how you can say that. The regular season is different than the post season. You cannot sweep Denver or the Mavs.
Denver has manged to beat contenders in the last 20 games. They dropped a few bad ones (Seattle , Sac) but where still beating the good teams decisively except for Utah at HOME. Denver is the tougher match up.
If you want to run with Denver, the Lakers will need to shoot a good % and play good interior defense. I don't think they can maintain that high level and sweep them. Plus, J.R. Smith, Kleiza, K. Mart have been playing great just in time for the play-offs. They are not the same team. Mavs have found ways to win and are unstable if you ask me. Dirk can't carry the team and I don't see them getting out of the first whether it is against the Lakers or someone else.
Isn't it Dirk that has managed to somehow fade into darkness during the play-offs?

Denver is not good. They can't match up with the Lakers and they can't stop Kobe. They have no answer for Pau. In fact, they haven't even faced Pau yet, and we smoked them the last time we played them without Bynum or Pau.

I have zero fear of Denver. None. We can sweep them...it's not likely, but I could see it happening. More likely win in 5 or 6 if Denver gets hot.

Dallas matches up with the Lakers much better, and Dirk gets up to play us this year. I don't think we win that series in less than 6 or 7 games...and that's not what I'm looking for in the first round.

Maybe I missed something.. but how does a Spurs win or loss effect us?

Spurs win and Dallas win puts the following teams in the same half of the bracket:

Suns
Spurs

Dallas
Nooch

And puts these teams in the other half:

Lakers
Nuggets

Utah
Houston

Thus, the Lakers would have a straight line to the WCF over teams it matches up really well against, then meet only one of the teams it has a tougher time with in the Spurs, Suns, Dallas could come out and possibly the Nooch who the Lakers also match up well against.

Suns likely beat the Spurs, then face the Nooch likely, who they struggle with.

A Laker/Nooch WCF means bring on the Celtics.

That's the easy road.

Denver in the first round.

I don't care what the Denver homers say about it. Denver has no shot of beating L.A. in a seven game series.

lakers have a cakewalk to the WCF.

Not yet...Spurs need to win.

(or Suns lose, but that is doubtful)

But yes, so far things are lining up nicely for a WCF pathway. They still have to win, but it's an easier path than going through the Suns or Spurs in the first couple of rounds.
