Waht will be interesting to watch with him is does it hold up over a season. In college he had a midseason slump that looked like fatigue, not unusual for a freshman of course and not unusual for a rookie in the NBA to have one too.

I knew he was a terrific shooter and had the size, but he's even better than I expected.

If you are talking about Markkanen, I believe @AzStevenCal had a strong idea Markkanen would be this good.

It would be good to see him posting again.

Phil Jackson was on the verge of trading Porzingis this summer. Whoever stopped that train wreck deserves a medal.

That was a bluff, a power play designed to put Porzingis in his place. It backfired for Jackson, but Porzingis was never going to be traded.

You don't know that, because Jackson was fired because of it. Doesn't sound like a bluff.

We'll probably end up trading him for a lottery pick and take the next Tyson Chandler only to give up on him too soon. Elton Brand, cough..cough...
What? Are you a Chi fan and you're talking about Laurie? Coughing over Elton Brand isn't going to strike much of a chord on Suns board fifteen years after it happened, either. My memory of Brand doesn't go further back than San Diego...

Huh? Jackson was fired because he sucked at his job and had lost control of the team.

Agreed. And even if the argument is made the Jackson was fired because he dangled Porzingis then it is all the more confirmation that there was no freaking way the Knicks as a franchise were letting him go if they're canning Phil Jackson because he may have entertained the idea.

I was the only one that AzSteve convinced about Markkanen. I watched all the videos I could find on him and saw that he had some toughness to go with his nice looking shot. He set decent screens and he was deadly on the pick and pop but he'd drive if given a lane. I have to admit he's starting off better than I thought he would... I figured he'd take a couple of years to hit his stride.

I agree that Steve needs to get his butt back here!

Yes, I miss Steve. For quite awhile, he and I emailed regularly about our love for music going back to the '50's. Plus his opinions/posts were always so objective and full of insight. And presented objectively. If ASFN were discussing naming its all-time best Suns poster, my vote is for AzStevenCal.

Just making a bad joke about how the Bulls gave up on Brand after his amazing rookie year straight up for a, 18 year old Tyson Chandler. Laurie is putting up similar numbers. Brand average 20 and 10 his rookie year and Laurie is at 17 and 9. And yes, I am a Bulls fan who would trade front offices with the Suns in a heart beat.

I liked Lauri before it was en Vogue. But wouldn’t have taken him 4.

Not enough Steve or joe mama.

Um, yes, maybe not the entire reason was fired but he was damn close to trading Porzingis. At worst that was the straw that broke the camels back.

Tyson Chandler coming out of high school was a freak. I thought he was going to take over the NBA. Brand was good not great limited upside I see why they did it and chandler has had a better career than Brand

Brand was one of the best PF in the NBA for seven years with the Clippers and single handily turned the franchise around. Brands first 9 years were better than Chandlers best 9 years. Then injuries caught up to him, yet he still played 17 seasons. Pairing him with Eddy Curry wouldn't have worked either, but I wanted them to take Jason Richardson anyway. They could have been competitive then, but instead traded them both and stated over again with an old Jalen Rose.

Idk guys on this board told me he was slow and a cancer.

The owner wanted Buddy Hield even Vlade said he had better offers on the table that's a shame hopefully we can get him this off season
