Major League baseball doesn't work that way. Neither should the NBA. Or any other professional league.

Why? Because All Star games are meant to cater to the fans, who live all over the country, both in person and through electronic media.

Remember, pro sports is a business, dedicated to the revenue producing public. At least, that's how it needs to be.

Its primary purposes are certainly not to cater to statisticians.
But then the teams should be dividing according to conference if you're forced to choose along conference lines. If the goal is force a better game by dividing the talent more evenly then the goal is best served getting the actual best players in the game.

Why not pick teams every qt then. I really don't care for the All Star game anyway. Make it fun sure is not a real game.

I thought this would be the outcome although it seems both sides would have better off settling this matter out of court.

That's crap. East vs West is classic. Get in those blue and red with white stripes. There are enough players in the East to fill a roster. Blah.

Good job on the evil twins to beat up an old guy and get away with it. I salute you jerks. Now go on twatter and post those smiling crying emoticons you no good punks.

PJ Tucker looks like a good fit for Houston.

Goodwin made an appearance for Portland last night.

The Suns definitely got a bargain signing Warren. I think his mysterious injury last year played a part in him accepting the long term deal for security. It's below market value under the new CBA though, when compared to players like Gary Harris or Otto Porter though. I was worried about TJ hitting free agency after seeing Otto Porter get a 4 years & $106 million max offer from Brooklyn this last summer. Porter & TJ are similar players and Brooklyn didn't get him since Washington matched, they'll have max money this next offseason also and have shown in the past they don't care if a player is restricted or not, they're hungry for young talent and willing to overpay. I like TJ a lot but wouldn't think twice about matching a max offer. Unlike Len, Warren's proven to be a solid NBA player and would have received an offer from somewhere.

Warren and Porter are very comparable though, both 6'8 SF's that are 3rd options on their teams. Otto Porter averaged 7.5 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.0 apg, 45.7% from the field & 34.9% from 3 throughout his first 3 years. He broke out some in his 4th year, but still didn't warrant that max offer. He averaged 13.4 ppg & 6.4 rpg on 51.6% from the field and 43.4% from 3.

While Warren has averaged 11.2 ppg, 3.7 rpg, .9 apg, 50.2% from the field & 31.2% from 3 throughout his first 3 years, which is better than Porter. His numbers last year were better than Porter's also. TJ averaged 14.4 ppg & 5.1 rpg on 49.5% from the field and 26.5% from 3. So he's a better scorer, is one of the best in the league, at his age, moving without the ball, and is a better shooter but Porter is a better 3 point shooter. Warren shoots only 1/3 of the 3's that Porter does though, 1.5 a game vs 4.3 last season. For $58 million less, I'll take the inferior 3 point shooter.

Its one of the marks of the Colangelos. They are never stingy and always generous with their own players. It can be both a strength and can bite them.

I'm sorry, but that's just insane for a player who has been healthy for only 31 out of 246 possible games his first three years. That's 12.6%, for those of you keeping score.

I completely agree. He looked really good when he did play, but he hasn't been able to play one half of one season in three years. Giving him a five-year contract at $30M+ per year is insane.

The fear must be great for the 76ers who have invested so heavily in rebuilding through the draft to risk losing a player that might yet develop into a superstar.
