Timberwolves Assistant Coach Rick Brunson resigned from his position with the Timberwolves after several allegations of inappropriate interactions with a few females there, one of them being a member of the media. It's worth noting he went to trial before for similar allegations in Illinois in 2015 but he was found not guilty in that case.

I don't think this will effect his son Jalen's draft stock but it can't be something that helps him either. Jalen is projected as a late 1st round/early 2nd round pick right now, listed as #29 by NBADraft.net right now. Jalen is someone I thought the Suns should take a look at with one of their later picks, he's worth a flyer with their 2nd round pick. He's a junior from Villanova who was their starting PG throughout their 2 national championship runs, in 2016 and 2018, so he can run an offense. He's not that big but he's 6'2. He was the Big East Player of the Year as well as the AP Player of the Year this last season. We could do a lot worse with our 2nd round pick. Here's a link to his college stats.

Casey is someone I saw a lot of talk about winning Coach of the Year. I think Brad Stephens or Quin Snyder will win that but that would have to sting for him if he's awarded that while he's unemployed since the league has their award presentation after the finals now. I think it was George Karl who won Coach of the Year before in the season he was fired after the 2012-13 season with Denver. IIRC Lionel Hollins finished 2nd in voting that year for Memphis and was also fired.

The Raptors need better players, not a different coach.

I don't know... that's a pretty talented team top to bottom. If think if Brad Stevens had that much talent, they'd be much more formidable in the playoffs.

At this point, you could convince me that Brad Stevens could win in the NBA playoffs with an above average G-league team...or even the Magic!

The Miami Heat have declined forward Jordan Mickey's $1.6 million team option for next season, league sources tell Yahoo. Mickey will be a free agent.

Raptors president Masai Ujiri has strong interest in former Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer, according to coaching sources. Dwane Casey, meanwhile, is likely to emerge as a contender for one or two of the league's other four vacancies.

I wonder if we had been patient if Casey would’ve been a good candidate for us. If I’m not mistaken he came into a young raptors team and coached them up to where they are now.

I’m interested in what Kokoskov can do, but he’s certainly not as established as Casey.

Bud would be a good coach for the raptors to target.

I agree about Casey. He should make a good hire for a team.

However, one can only play the hand they are dealt so to speak. Casey was not available when the Suns hired their head coach so hopefully Kokoskov was the right choice.

Also Igor is younger and can grow with the team but that philosophy has not worked out for the Suns of late.

The hand they were dealt? You make it sound like the suns had a deadline in which to make a hire. Now I’m not espousing when they should have made a decision but let’s not make up facts. The suns 100% absolutely could have waited and included Casey in their search. Many teams haven’t yet hired their coach.

Sure the Suns could have waited longer but at some point in time the Suns wanted to make a decision. They seem comfortable in hiring Igor after doing a thorough search.

Waiting for a coach like Casey is no guarantee he would have wanted to coach the Suns or he would have been their choice for head coach.

I never said, or even intimated, that either side would have chosen the other. I just said he was a more proven commodity than Igor and had a history of what the suns need. I dont even think my comment about wondering if we were more patient intimates that I faulted the suns for hiring when they did. But you posted that the suns “can only play the hand they are dealt” intimating that their hands were bound and they couldn’t have hired Casey which just isn’t accurate.

I was only stating my perspective.

Let me switch analogies. At some point the Suns decided to fish instead of cut bait.
