Grizz looking to shop 4 to get out of the Parsons contract

A friend of mine in LA said the sports radio out there thinks the Suns will swap #16 and the Bucks pick for Parsons and #4.

Umm... yes please!

But, I cannot imagine the Grizz would be so desperate. What do they possibly think they'd do with that cap space that will yield a better return than the #4 pick in this monster draft?

Who cares? Just make the trade.

Yeah, that's a no-brainer for Phoenix, even if they have to include one of Chriss/Bender.

IN a freaking heart beat. I'd give them anyone not named Booker and Jackson plus all my assets

that's insane. Just freaking insane.

and if they want to do that, BY ALL MEANS.

If we were to come out of this draft with possibly Ayton and JJJ? Holy crap. Or Ayton/and really any of the guys in the top 4-5 and that was all it took to do it, yeah... every day and twice on sunday. Hell, I'd even throw in what's-his-nuts... the Ced Ceballos impersonator at SF.

I looked at a couple of Grizz blogs or whatever they were. No mention of such a trade, all they could do was gush about what a great fit Doncic would be with Gene Conley and Gasol - obviously they are thinking he's likely to fall to them. I think they could well be right about the fit so like I said a couple of days ago, I didn't think Memphis would make the trade if Doncic falls to them.

Senior moment?:) I think you were looking for Mike Conley.

It's so incredible I'll only believe it when I see it. Because like others said...what would they even do with the cap space?

They have to rebuild. They need space and picks. They need to start collecting assets. Gasol is a dinosaur. Conley is injured all the time and aging. They are fooling themselves with any win now notions.

I mean the suns could put up an offer that other teams would have a hard time matching. We have the right combination of available salary cap space, expiring contacts, draft pick(s), young talent (not great but cheap with potential).

From what I understand the Grizzlies owe a pick to Boston next year so they plan on winning as much as possible so they don't hand over a top pick. I looked at their sub on Reddit and they have a TON of trade proposals being thrown around centered around #4 and Parsons. From how they're talking about it, the #4 pick and Parsons contract is being offered for a player to help them win now, preferably a wing player. Mostly fans from other teams coming and proposing deals but offers of DeRozan for that combo or Harrison Barnes for that combo seem to be the ones they've discussed the most. Apparently Dallas wants to add another top pick, looking to snag Doncic and someone else, and Barnes going out actually makes sense for them. They have history with Parsons also so I could see them valuing him more than another team as well. I can't see a deal where we get that pick for taking Parsons back alone though. Maybe Warren is someone they'd be interested in, I'd do that deal, #16, Bucks pick, and Warren for #4 and Parsons, but I'm not sure if that would beat other offers if they're searching for the highest bidder to help them win now.

I think DeRozan is likelybtheir best option alongside Conley and Gasol, but there won’t be much in the way of good picks accompanying him.

I think Barnes is foolsgold. He still retains the shine that made him a top pick, but even that was based largely on potential . . . potential he’s yet to fulfill this far into his career. But I could certainly see the argument that he’s more valuable than Warren being made.

DeRozan makes a ton of sense from the Grizzlies' perspective, but I doubt Toronto is ready to rebuild even after the Cleveland sweep.

I'd consider sweetening that trade especially if Parsons can still play. The Suns would be set for a awhile concerning talent.

THIS is the moment when the hype machine is at its highest with regard to these picks. It will be very easy to overpay right now. Besides Parsons' contract is so horrendous, it should cost a mid first or better just to move it. I would trade #16, #31, and our first next year with top 3 protections for #4 and Parsons. I know it sounds really uneven but to me, Parsons deal is that bad.

We have to be willing to take whoever is there at four, IOW, a trade like this cannot be all about Doncic.

Parsons's contract is ridiculous, but it's only two more years. The Suns could afford it if the rest of the deal was sufficiently appealing.

Did Parsons get injured? He was a pretty effective player during his two years in Dallas, 15 and 5 on 40% shooting from three. Those numbers wouldn't justify a $24 million salary, but they'd make him a rotation player, at least. His impact with Memphis has been minimal.

Yeah. He has knee issues that seem to be degenerative.

Chandler Parsons shared his thoughts on his disappointing 2017-18 season.

"I had moments this year where I felt good and felt like myself, and I had moments where the soreness and stiffness were just too much," Parsons said. "I want to play. I want to be healthy. And I’m doing everything in my power to get there." He averaged 7.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 19.2 minutes, playing in a total of 35 games. Needless to say, the Grizzlies should be relieved that he's halfway through his four-year, $94 million contract. Apr 19 - 11:27 AM

In 2015, a "mysterious injury":

https://www.sbnation.com/2015/9/28/...knee-surgery-revealed-injury-dallas-mavericks

In 2017, he injures his left knee, leading to his third knee surgery in three seasons.

https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2017/3...s-injury-knee-partial-meniscus-tear-grizzlies

Basically, it looks like both knees are shot. He may give you a 6'10 guy who can shoot 3s at a high clip on some nights; you just won't know what nights those will be in advance.
