But, I cannot imagine the Grizz would be so desperate. What do they possibly think they'd do with that cap space that will yield a better return than the #4 pick in this monster draft?

I looked at a couple of Grizz blogs or whatever they were. No mention of such a trade, all they could do was gush about what a great fit Doncic would be with Gene Conley and Gasol - obviously they are thinking he's likely to fall to them. I think they could well be right about the fit so like I said a couple of days ago, I didn't think Memphis would make the trade if Doncic falls to them.

They have to rebuild. They need space and picks. They need to start collecting assets. Gasol is a dinosaur. Conley is injured all the time and aging. They are fooling themselves with any win now notions.

I mean the suns could put up an offer that other teams would have a hard time matching. We have the right combination of available salary cap space, expiring contacts, draft pick(s), young talent (not great but cheap with potential).

From what I understand the Grizzlies owe a pick to Boston next year so they plan on winning as much as possible so they don't hand over a top pick. I looked at their sub on Reddit and they have a TON of trade proposals being thrown around centered around #4 and Parsons. From how they're talking about it, the #4 pick and Parsons contract is being offered for a player to help them win now, preferably a wing player. Mostly fans from other teams coming and proposing deals but offers of DeRozan for that combo or Harrison Barnes for that combo seem to be the ones they've discussed the most. Apparently Dallas wants to add another top pick, looking to snag Doncic and someone else, and Barnes going out actually makes sense for them. They have history with Parsons also so I could see them valuing him more than another team as well. I can't see a deal where we get that pick for taking Parsons back alone though. Maybe Warren is someone they'd be interested in, I'd do that deal, #16, Bucks pick, and Warren for #4 and Parsons, but I'm not sure if that would beat other offers if they're searching for the highest bidder to help them win now.

I'd consider sweetening that trade especially if Parsons can still play. The Suns would be set for a awhile concerning talent.

We have to be willing to take whoever is there at four, IOW, a trade like this cannot be all about Doncic.

Yeah. He has knee issues that seem to be degenerative.

Basically, it looks like both knees are shot. He may give you a 6'10 guy who can shoot 3s at a high clip on some nights; you just won't know what nights those will be in advance.
