I can't believe I'm saying this, but Kidd could be a good fit to coach the current Suns.

Based on what? What has he proven?

Nothing can be proved. He has coached two very different squads to the playoffs, has a reputation for being able to teach defense, understands the game well, and has connections to the organization. I don't particularly like him, but considering that most of this board is ready to turn the keys over to Majerle, Eddie Johnson, or Oprah, I'd say we could do a lot worse than Kidd.

Whoa! Didn't see that coming.
MIlwaukee fans have been talking about it for a long time. There has been a lot of unhappiness over his coaching generally there. I am a little unhappy about this. Kidd was our best hope for getting that pick. He is not a good coach.

I haven't been paying much attention but here's an interesting post from a Bucks fan about a month ago on reddit:
xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media

  • (on why he asked Khris Middleton to intentionally miss a FT with the Bucks up by 3 with 2 seconds left and the Cavs had no timeouts)
We'll take the bet of someone missing it from the other side of the floor. being a gambler... understanding if we did make the free throw..our luck...they get it inbounds to half court and we foul the 3 point shooter and it's a 4 point play. So we'll take our chances with them heaving a full court shot.

Uh, what? Jason Kidd, you can't actually believe this, can you?

The takeaway for me there is that even a Bucks fan singled out Watson for being a spectacularly bad coach.

I always figured you needed IQ to be a good coach, in which case kidd is never going to succeed.

Speaking of the Lakers, does anyone know what is up with Zubac. They are not playing him much at all this year. Last year he didn't get tons of time but his per.36 stats were even with Randles and I thought he passed the eye test against us. I hope the Suns are keeping an eye on his situation - if its not a serious health issue he might be an easy grab this summer.

I saw something interesting about Kidd being fired, he hadn't played Giannis, Middleton, and Parker together at all in the last 2 years. Those are 3 of their best players and to not play them together is ridiculous. I know injuries have limited the time some play but there's no excuse for never having those 3 on the court together. Knowing that I guess he did handle the rotations poorly.

I agree. Zubac has been on my radar since the Lakers drafted him. I'm not sure why they do not play him unless they want to keep him under the radar. He has a team option for next season. If the Lakers would take a couple of second round picks for him I would be interested.

I was shocked he became a coach in the first place. Kidd has been notoriously dumb. I can't remember where I heard it, but there was a story going around about his girlfriend in college having to fill out his checks for him because he didn't know how to write a check.

Famous Jason Kidd quote. "We are going to turn this team around 360 degrees."

Then it got even funnier when someone asked him if that was Celsius or Fahrenheit... and he had to think about it.

Wow. Unrest around the league.

Charlotte floating its best player to dump contracts.
IT leading a team meeting calling out Kevin Love in Cleveland
The Freak calling Jason Kidd and wanting to fight for his job for him in Milwaukee
Word leaking that Kawhi wants out of San Antonio.

Maybe we can profit from the misfortune of others.

There's a lot of weird happenings right now. It makes the dysfunction the Suns had to deal with the first week of the season seem minor in companions. Sure, we fired a coach and traded one of our best players but that player wasn't an All-Star and wasn't in the long term plans of the team anyways. Giannis wanting Kidd as the coach is interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if a deal gets made by Milwaukee in which they'll need to change the protection on our pick. Because of league rules they can't trade back to back picks and with the protection on the pick that is owed to us they can't trade a future 1st anywhere really unless they find a team willing to accept a 2023 pick. That's a long ways out though. Just wishful thinking on my part that somehow that pick they owe us ends up being more valuable.
