No thanks on Gordon. We have JJ and Warren at 3 and he's not really a PF but he's also not a good enough shooter to be a stretch 4. We need shooters

I reluctantly agree. I thought Gordon was a respectable three-point shooter, but he isn't. He's at 35% this year on two makes a game, which is okay, but he's been below 30% in all three of his other seasons.

NBA announces that Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has been fined $600,000 for public statements detrimental to the NBA. Cuban’s comments, which concerned his perspective on the team’s competitive success this season, were made during a podcast that posted on Feb. 18.

NBA's version of "don't ask, don't tell." You can do it, just don't admit it.

It'll be interesting to see how the MVP race finishes this year. 2 of the 5 top candidates last season won't be in the picture with Kawhi out and IT missing half the season and now playing for the Lakers. I don't think Westbrook or Harden should be in the picture since their stats are down a little bit and they both had All-Stars added to their team. I don't think Steph or Durant deserve it because it's arguable which is better for the Warriors but Draymond Green is actually the Warriors MVP. Green won't get any national recognition though, nor should he for the MVP award though. Lebron is always a candidate but the Cavs have been pretty bad this year and he has to take some responsibility for that.

Harden will probably end up winning it but I'm not sure if he's the most deserving. Considering all of the other top candidates though maybe he is. Kyrie was mentioned as a candidate early this season but they're really not any better with him than they were with IT leading them last season. NBA.com has Harden, Durant, Lebron, Curry, and Westbrook as their top 5 candidates in that order also. Here is the link to that.

Lillard and Davis should get MVP if they can win in the playoffs. With not much help from their team.

Golden State blew out OKC last night to win the first meeting between the two this year with a score of 112-80 and they'll play each other again one more time on April 3rd. Each of their meetings has resulted in a blowout with OKC winning the previous two games 108-91 on November 22nd and 125-105 on February 6th.

Late in the 3rd quarter Zaza Pachulia tried to deliberately injure Westbrook after Westbrook went down on a drive after a collision with Nick Young. Young and Westbrook were trying for the rebound off of Westbrook's miss and Zaza was right there with them but they fell down and Zaza decided to flop onto Russ's leg in what was a blatant dirty play. No one touched Zaza and there was no cause at all for him to fall down like he did. He already has the reputation as a dirty player especially after he undercut Kawhi in the playoffs last year and the league should take action on this. It actually reminded me of when Gronkowski dropped an elbow on Tre'Davious White of the Bills after the play had been blown dead when the Bills and Patriots played in week 13 of the NFL season. Gronk got suspended for 1 game for that hit. However an NBA game shouldn't have a "play" that resembles a dirty hit from an NFL game. This isn't Zaza's first time doing something dirty either. I'd be surprised if he gets any more than a 1 game suspension but they need to watch him closely before he deliberately injures another player. Here is an ESPN article that has Westbrook being interviewed post game where he calls out Zaza for that cheap shot.

For some reason they don't show the cheap shot in that article. You can view that here, in a youtube video that someone made that also includes the Kawhi cheapshot and gets Russ' post game reaction as well as Paul George's take. It also shows another cheap shot Zaza took on Westbrook during a previous meeting after Westbrook came around a pick.

Here is a link another video with multiple angles of the same play.

After seeing this I don't think his move that took out Kawhi can be called an accident any longer. I know some people gave him the benefit of doubt then but seeing him trying to injure another star player shows that is his MO when he's on the court. Whoever challenges the Warriors needs to watch their stars around Zaza because he'll try and get them out any way he can. It's unfortunate considering the Warriors are a great team anyway and don't need that sort of cloud hanging over their victories.

We have seen this before. The league needs to review these plays, even after the fact and dish out big suspensions. It does not have to be an in-game decision. In fact, its better if it is not. Whether its Bruce Bowen, Robert Horry, or Zaza, this type of thing cannot be tolerated.

Totally inexcusable behavior on Pachulia's part. He just fell on Westbrook on that one play. I thought the league was reviewing this stuff... guess not.
