They need to fix that. I understand not wanting the games to become stretched out with reviews but it wouldn't be difficult to fix. If the challenge is overturned then the coach gets another. No more than 2 per team in a game. Simple enough, in my opinion.
I wouldn’t even limit it to 2 per game. Sure, nobody wants to see the game stopped for review 10 times, but it’s better than allowing 10 bad calls to stand. If every challenge results in a bad call being overturned, you can have as many challenges as you want. The first time you waste time with a challenge that does not overturn a call, that’s your last challenge of the game, and the other team gets a technical free throw.

That way, teams are in not in any way penalized for getting a challenge right, but are strongly discouraged from making challenges they’re not sure about.

I'm not sure why a coach loses his challenge if he wins the challenge. It's not logical.

If the play was called incorrectly, why penalize the team that challenges.
I heard the asst commissioner the other day say it’s because they don’t want disrupt the game flow. So they want to minimize lengthy disruptions. So they limit the number of challenges. Fans of the teams they are watching want the calls made right, so would be in favor of more challenges. Casual fans, or fans watching games not involving their own team likely want fewer interruptions.

Personally I would be all for the additional challenges if they allowed us to see what the refs are watching and hear their deliberations instead of sending us to more commercials.

Agree. As it stands now almost every coach saves his challenges until the end of the game. I’d like to be able to challenge a third foul on Ayton or Booker in the first half and know I’ve still got the crucial challenge at the end of the game I need.

You probably lose 5-10% of your casual viewership with that. At least for portions of the game.

Additional challenges if correct shouldn't hurt the game. Actually it might lead to less frustration by the fans.

Wolves playing efficiently. Would be beyond amazing if they could knock out Memphis.
I don't like their chances but I'd love to see it. Minnesota has played pretty solidly the second of the season and both teams have limited postseason experience so who knows. I just hope Beverley doesn't put too many of them in the hospital.

If nothing else Beverley might tenderize the Grizzlies a bit.

Looks like they have technical difficulties with the game.

I don’t think think so. There still won’t be a lot of challenges in a typical game, unless the refs are really doing an atrocious job. The combined penalties of no more challenges for the rest of the game, plus a tech, will discourage teams from challenging unless the refs clearly screwed up. (Or a desperate end-of-game situation.)

I also think it would disrupt the game too much. There has to be a cap and changing the penalty for a bad challenge from loss of a timeout to a technical is going a bit overboard. It shouldn't cost a point to question the refs and I think teams would tend not to challenge because the loss of a point, or giving a point to their opponent, could be worse than the infraction they're questioning.

It’s good if they tend not not to challenge when they’re not sure. We don’t want to waste time on bad challenges. But when they are sure, they should be able to challenge without any penalty for getting it right.

This Wolves/Minnesota series just has a TON of young talent playing in it.

Why not have an official NBA ref on the video monitor for on the fly calls.

Grizzlies ball movement this game has sucked, as has their transition defense. The Wolves are a lock to get blown out about once every 3rd night, so I am not too worried yet if I am a Grizz fan but they have a lot to clean up.

Man, Richard Jefferson... I like the guy but he is a horrid announcer.

The Timberwolves are going to get the win over Grizzlies. Facing the Clippers likely helped them prepare for the series opener.

The Grizz gonna have to look in the mirror after this game
