Add some Dark Knight Returns to the mix, and I think you've got it.
Well, I saw it today and the only thing it had in common with No Man's Land was the blowing up of the bridges.

I don't think I've ever read it...but I think I remember reading about it. Didn't it also isolate gotham from the rest of the country? And the gangs roaming and controlling the streets if I recall? It has been a while.
Just saw it for the second time and while it's still no TDK, I actually put it above Begins now. Going in knowing there are holes you could drive a Mack thru let me sit back and appreciate the movie for what it was. Sheer spectacle with great performances all around. It's by no means a classic, which is a shame because I do really believe the first half of the movie is incredibly strong... And it even could have reached that level if hey made one different choice at the end, but I won't quibble too much. It's really good and definitely has rewatxhability that I didn't expect it to.
I don't see how you equate holes you can drive a mack truck through and better than Begins. Not even close. By far the weakest of the three. Some great stuff in it, no doubt, but not anywhere near Nolan's usual standards. Hugely disappointing.
I just thought it was more entertaining. and I think the first 80 minutes in the movie tower above anything else in BB.
Really? Bane's intro was just plain bad (pun intended).
i completely disagree. that action sequence was one of the best in the movie.
I disagree. WAAAAAAYYYYYY too far over the top. Nothing that happened in that sequence 1). was remotely possible or 2). made a lick of sense. The fact that the wings (aka fuel tanks) peeled off with no fire was laughable.
So your saying a guy dressed as a Bat fighting crime is completely plausible?
And the gangs roaming and controlling the streets if I recall? It has been a while.

I had a lot more fun watching the Avengers.
Of course. That movie didn't attempt to tackle a timeless philosophical theme.

Regardless Chap is right. Avengers was better. I think much better.
yeah... even as a HUGE Nolan/Batman fan, the Avengers was probably a better movie overall. but i don't think it was much better.
just watched the last ten minutes again and realized something... wouldn't Bane be like 60 freaking years old?! I mean, Marion Cottilard's 36 years old... do the math on what happens in the movie.

That is basically my problem Cheese. I have talked to a few people who have seen it multiple times like me and most of them said the same thing. The second time around the movie doesn't stand up as well because of all the annoying problems with it. In fact, a couple people I have talked to were just like you and noticed stuff they didn't see the first time around that made the movie worse for them.
