Just saw it for the second time and while it's still no TDK, I actually put it above Begins now. Going in knowing there are holes you could drive a Mack thru let me sit back and appreciate the movie for what it was. Sheer spectacle with great performances all around. It's by no means a classic, which is a shame because I do really believe the first half of the movie is incredibly strong... And it even could have reached that level if hey made one different choice at the end, but I won't quibble too much. It's really good and definitely has rewatxhability that I didn't expect it to.

I don't see how you equate holes you can drive a mack truck through and better than Begins. Not even close. By far the weakest of the three. Some great stuff in it, no doubt, but not anywhere near Nolan's usual standards. Hugely disappointing.

I just thought it was more entertaining. and I think the first 80 minutes in the movie tower above anything else in BB.

i completely disagree. that action sequence was one of the best in the movie.

I disagree. WAAAAAAYYYYYY too far over the top. Nothing that happened in that sequence 1). was remotely possible or 2). made a lick of sense. The fact that the wings (aka fuel tanks) peeled off with no fire was laughable.

I went to see this again with the wife and I am actually having the opposite experience as cheese. My first review above posted all the plot holes and problems I had with the film. My second viewing only enhanced the issues I had with it the first time around. In fact, this film might fall to my 3rd favorite between the 3.

I will say this. Between Raz, Joker and Bane as the primary antagonist.....I never thought I would ever budge from Raz being my least favorite of the 3. I can now. Bane NEVER should have been the primary antagonist. I have no doubt after the second viewing.

In terms of the Bane opening scene, I agree that the action sequence was cool. I just think the very premise was over the top. Bane pretty easily took over Gotham and trapped the entire police force. I sort of find it hard to believe that he couldn't have found a better way to take a prisoner in custody in some easier way versus midair. The more I think about it the more ridiculous the premise. It was simply to establish how resourceful Bane could be no matter the odds. Just completely unnecessary considering what he accomplishes later in the film.

Having said that this is a Batman film so you have to suspend believe and expect over the top sequences. I still think it was a very cool scene and actually loved it no matter how ridiculous. Out of all 3 films I am most conflicted about this one because it was more of a roller coaster of awesome and blah at the same time.

I saw it tonight and loved it. I am surprised by some of the complaints. I am not a big comic book guy so maybe that helped. I had no problem understanding Bane and was rather fond of the character. The voice didn't match the outward appearance but I think it helped in making him more than just a badass strong guy. It made him feel like he also had a sense of refinement to him. Not as good as the second one (I didn't expect it to be) but a very satisfying ending to the trilogy.

So your saying a guy dressed as a Bat fighting crime is completely plausible? :D

I realize that the whole superhero thing is impossible, but this movie was supposed to be gritty with a feeling of realism. When you kick off such a movie with the stupid airplane scene, well.... it kinda blows the gritty and real feeling right out of the water 5 minutes into a 3 hour film, wouldn't ya say?

Which is why I prefer the Marvel films, quite frankly. They maintain a more comic book feel with some good humor (at any point in the Avengers, you expect RDJ to look at the camera and say, "it's a movie, Garth... It's a movie!").

And the gangs roaming and controlling the streets if I recall? It has been a while.

No gangs, just a gang. They were of one mind. There were no pockets of different factions in different parts of the city. In fact, a movie version of No Man's Land would have been far better than this story.

Well, action sequences were good, but I had a bunch of issues with the film that nobody has really talked about.

First, Catwoman was a waste. Sure, Anne Hathaway is nice to look at, but other than her flip up sunglasses looking like "ears", there was nothing that made her out to be Catwoman except her name and that she is a Cat Burglar. She didn't stand out at all, just a cute woman who can kick some ass when she needs to, which is rare since she shies away from violent confrontation most of the time.

Second, Bane's voice. Much more understandable than in the preview before MI4, but whoever did the sound design did an awful job. They didn't bother to make his voice part of the environment. Sounded like a voiceover that they hadn't integrated yet. It really bothered me, even more than Bane's pointless monologues. You're evil, we get it!

That said, Bane was deliciously evil, at least until the end when we see a tiny bit of compassion for 15 seconds. The twist was good, didn't expect it, but on looking back, I should have.

It's a Batman movie without any Batman, and the first half, while very well done, was enough to drive someone to slit their own wrists. NOTHING good happens at all.

I'm also in the minority as liking the Blake twist at the end. Nolan loves to mind #$%* an audience, and he has done it for a decade now with his
No Robin
rule.

I thought the movie was well-made but not as good as The Dark Knight. Probably equal with Begins, but I'll have to rewatch this one to make that official. But in the scheme of things, I had a lot more fun watching the Avengers.

Regardless Chap is right. Avengers was better. I think much better.

yeah... even as a HUGE Nolan/Batman fan, the Avengers was probably a better movie overall. but i don't think it was much better.

just watched the last ten minutes again and realized something... wouldn't Bane be like 60 freaking years old?! I mean, Marion Cottilard's 36 years old... do the math on what happens in the movie.

That is basically my problem Cheese. I have talked to a few people who have seen it multiple times like me and most of them said the same thing. The second time around the movie doesn't stand up as well because of all the annoying problems with it. In fact, a couple people I have talked to were just like you and noticed stuff they didn't see the first time around that made the movie worse for them.
