i think i've pinpointed why I'm just not as amped up for this as I was TDK. The trailers for TDK were not only really dark, but the movie looked like a freaking BLAST at the same time. These trailers are just freaking BLEAK. Don't get me wrong... I love a dark Batman movie as much as the next guy, but it's just sooooo dark that it doesn't leave me in awe, like the TDK trailers did where I thought "Holy ****... this movie will seemingly have EVERYTHING in it!"

that being said, I'm sure it will be damn good, but Nolan may have risen the bar so high with the second one, that it will literally be impossible for the third one to rise above at this point.

Am I the only one that just doesn't want to re-watch TDK again because of that ridiculously ******** voice Bale uses? I mean, every time I think of watching it, I hear that stupid voice. Nolan should have pimpslapped him until he stopped that.

I hope Bale tones it down this time. Was way over the top. Other than that great film.

This is Nolan though and I am sure it won't suck and the bar as cheesebeef said was set almost impossibly high. However, I just hope I am wrong about another villain finding out a hero's secret identity...AGAIN.

I am so sick and tired of bad guys finding out who Batman is. It's tired, overused and just stupid. Bane appears to be in the Bat Cave and holding Batman's mask. It appears he finds out who Batman is and where he is.

FYI: In the Knightfall series of comics, Bane discovers Batman's identity and pays him a visit at Wayne Manor.

It may be overplayed, but it's canon for the story.

Rumors going around that Bale's Batman dies and that Joseph Gordon-Levitt may takeover the role late in the movie...

Yes but if you use that logic just about every villain has found out who Batman is going through all the various continuities of the character through the years. Doesn't really make it cannon. I call it running out of creative ideas and falling back on a Super Hero cliche.

Considering all the numerous retcons over the years for every comic, there has only been one "breaking of the bat". That's the only reason I say that the Knightfall series is canon.

In the comic, Bane finding out Bruce Wayne's true identity had little to do with exposing him to the public (in true comic book fashion), but with the ultimate humiliation of Batman getting his ass kicked in his own house.

But you may be right, Nolan may have gone to the cliche-well as an easy out. We'll just have to wait and see how it works out.

Not at all. It lessens the entire film.

Saw the trailer today while seeing The Avengers. All I have to say is this. Bane with an English accent. Screw you Nolan.

You mean Bane will have an english accent in this film?!

**** - that means the overwhelming majority of movie goers who have absolutely no preconceived notion of who or what Bane is are going to be disapointed on the off chance they decide to pick up a comic that they had never imagined to read only to find out the character that they were attracted to in the movie is a bit different in the book

Don't like it, don't read it. You do have that option.
Or, better yet, since you clearly KNOW he has an English accent (since you've come here to post specifically about it) maybe you just shouldn't watch the trailers anymore. You do have that option.

Hardy’s Bane has another defining characteristic that perhaps you’ve heard about, or perhaps have heard and didn’t understand: a curiously accented voice that’s further muffled by the rogue’s high-tech muzzle. “It’s a risk, because we could be laughed at — or it could be very fresh and exciting,” says Hardy, adding that the voice he developed was influenced by many factors, including a desire to honor the comic book character’s brains and Caribbean heritage. “The audience mustn’t be too concerned about the mumbly voice,” says Hardy. “As the film progresses, I think you’ll be able to tune to its setting.”"

You comic book nuts are confusing:

- "Don't use comic book cliche's!"

- "Be creative, don't fall back on what we've already seen/read!"

- "THEY"RE CHANGING THE ACCENT OF A VILLAIN! NOLAN MUST DIE!"

LOL

To be fair, I don't think you'll ever hear a fanboy say this. I think most of us say "your movie is already practically storyboarded in the comics, how in the world can you F that up?"

Don't get me wrong -- the things Hollywood has wanted to do with comics show too many of them don't understand them and/or would prefer to make fun of them. I get that.

On the flip side, when Hollywood spends money on, say, The Watchmen, and comes damn close to replicating it on film, no one but fanboys and critics want to go see it. That's not productive, either. (But I did love the movie)

Fanboys in general are too hard on the things they love.

'Dark Knight Rises' TV Spots: A Lighter Side Of Batman

The term "lighter side" is that of the author, not mine. Just putting a quick little quip at the end of a trailer does not light-hearted make...in my opinion.

agreed... but I am happy to see these latest trailers which breathe a little fun into the marketing campaign, seeing as the previous trailers which were SO heavy that it looked like we were gonna be watching the Schindler's List version of Batman.
