Funny watching bama vs. lsu and okie state and ksu at same time.

Five straight for the S-E-C though. Maybe you don't have to have a great defense to win a championship, but you damn sure need a good one.

I enjoyed the OSU v KState game far more than the Alabama v LSU game. I'm really glad Texas is not in the SEC or Big 10. Those 9-6 games bore me to death. I'll take 45-38 with the losing team throwing in the endzone as time runs out any day over 9-6 with 37 missed FGs.

Welcome to the board Coach Wiz ;)

Given the state of the NFL where most defenses suck anyways, maybe we should stick with that philosphy & add bunches of offense in the draft & FA next year. Draft Justin Blackmon, 2 OT's in rds 3-4 another speed demon WR & we're set...oh wait we need a QB to run that offense :D

Don't knock it. We went to the Super Bowl allowing our opponents 426 points.

Oh and btw I do not want anything to do with Blackmon. That guy is way too much of a hotdog. He's already showboated two fumbles through the endzone for touchbacks this season. Almost cost his team the game Saturday.

And Dan Williams is a super-stud but doesn't get enough PT for some ungodly reason. Coach had an excuse to prop him up in his Friday presser and instead chose to complain that he came into camp fat.

Whis hates fat guys and quarterbacks...

My daughter goes to school there and I've watched him all season. He's trouble. Give him millions and he'll be even more trouble.

I'd rather have Josh Cooper or Tracy Moore.

as long as there's an OSU in the title chase, I'm happy :).

Mr. Luck might have something to say about that :) If Stanford beats Oregon convincingly this weekend, Stanford will surely jump OSU in the rankings, and Luck would solidify himself as the Heisman Winner.

Seems like the Pac always does itself in. Stanford will probably lose on some crazy play at the last second like USC did vs Oregon St a few years ago when they were seemingly a BCS lock.

OT... how awful is the Pac 10 south? Can you imagine if the team who comes out of it pulls off some crazy upset in the conference title and the Pac sends an unranked 4 loss team to the Rose Bowl?

That's going to be a good game. Stanford will have their hands full. Heck Okie St. may have a tough time at TTech.

Could be the first game in modern NCAA history where both teams score over 100 points.

I'm pleased to say it looks like I may be wrong. Hopefully the D continues to progress, although allowing Porter to start the first 6 or so games still appears to be a total mystery.

Anyone else impressed with Marshall's play at safety? He's been far better than at corner.

Coordinator Ray Horton sensed a few weeks ago that his players were starting to grasp the defensive system. He didn't see light bulbs go on, but he could hear the switches being flipped.

The Cardinals ran a scheme specifically for Vick and the Eagles. They were able to get it down in just one week. So what is up with this comment by Horton?

I just don't understand how a scheme can be so complex that it supposedly takes months of practice and half a season of games for players to get it yet the team can put in a special defense and have it work well in just one week.

Would like to hear from anyone who has coached football comment on this.

I think it has more to do with Acho and Scho replacing Porter.

Of course it does, i.e. - pressure on the QB and stronger holding the edge.

It would be ok with me if Porter never sees the field again!

Looking ahead to next season I wonder which of the two cho's moves over to take Haggans place, Sam or O'Brien?

I think that it depends on if we bring in any more talent at OLB. If we stay with our current options then Acho would replace Haggens (he is more physical and better in coverage than Schofield) and Schofield would replace Porter. We need more athleticism outside even with Acho and Schofield, but I am not sure if we will be in a position to address that need this offseason.

It is amazing to me how much farther ahead of the offense the defense is. Needs at this point seem to be OT (both), WR2, QB, OLB, ILB, S, NT.

Not me. The defense just need(s/ed) a catalyic playmaker that opposing coordinators need(ed) to worry about. It's possible that Daryl Washington is growing into that role, along with support from Acho and Schofield. Horton thinks that Paris Lenon is having a special year; I disagree with him, but he knows what Lenon is supposed to be doing, I suppose.

I'd probably add TE to that list of needs, and I'd probably take off WR2 if the TE position gets fixed and we get a legit QB.

This is a defense that you can win games with--maybe one you could win a division with. The offense is flat-out awful, and that's supposed to be the specialty of the coaching staff. How embarrassing.
