I am ok with this Hire. I am willing to see how he and Keim Handle the Draft. If he can manage a game and call the plays I will be glad to see it. Get a Qb that can stay healthy and balance the run and pass. We have speed and playmaking on D and need to bring that to the offensive gameplan. This coach just might be able to do that. Ok with Horton moving on.

Horton's situation is a huge bummer. But I like Arians. Aside from Horton, probably my favorite guy on the board. I think he will bring a lot to the offense, but the side we had positive consistency is now leader-less. And that is a HUGE disappointment. I figured Horton and Arians would be good together after being in PIT together. Oh well, it is what it is and the sun will come up in the morning. Guess we'll see how it plays out on D. I don't think we could possibly get worse on offense

sidenote: will be interesting to watch Whiz destroy a shaky Philip Rivers in SD

other sidenote: after reading the article on azcentral. We're screwed
But Arians showed great touch and moxie in his first stint as head boss, and he never got to finish the job. I’m guessing all of that contributes to his hunger to make things work in Arizona.
I cannot describe my hatred for that word. It's essentially calling somebody good with no proof

sidenote III: that article as a whole is ********
Like everyone else in Bird Land, I really appreciated Horton’s personality, his schemes, his dreadlocks, and his lack of fear. But the Cardinals have the talent to succeed on defense regardless of scheme, and this team badly needs some tender loving care on offense.
cornrows =/= dreadlocks

I'm good with it.

I was petrified with fear that we were going to hire Haley.

Great, we gain six points per game on offense and lose ten points per game on defense : congratulations... congratulations.

No matter what happens with Horton, I'm happy with Arians.

This team needs a QBOTF. Now. They've needed one for as long as I can remember, but I think Mike B finally realizes the importance of stabilizing the most important position on the field. And when you get that QBOTF, you better have a coach in place who can get the most out of him. I believe Arians is that coach. QBs love to work with him, and he's gotten results at all of his pro stops. What's not to like?

If Arians can help identify and develop a young QB but flames out in other areas within a few years, I'm fine with it. Finding a new coach is much easier than finding a franchise QB. But I really do think he'll do well. Next year might be a little rough, but in the end, I believe he has the intelligence and personality to succeed. Great hire.

Bittersweet. I like Arians, he's a leader that has experience with Manning, Big Ben and Andrew Luck. They would've been great players anyway but Roethlisberger said he's the best offensive mind in football. Bruce has a tremendous resume.

Sucks about Horton. I think our D has enough talent to be great for several years but Ray is the guy that could've made it truly elite. Damn.

dunno enough about Bowles and whether or not he can do that too. But you're right, Horton could have made this D into the baddest. They love him, and he definitely knows what he's doing

The other wild card is that we have Keim instead of Graves.

Which may or may not mean more Anquan Boldin's and actually drafting AP, and less Buster Davis's and Levi Brown's.

At least now we have to reset our expectations of how we draft, how we sign free agents, how we manage the cap, how we re-sign players, etc.

We all pretty much had Graves' M.O. down (or we thought so), and that is gone.

Perhaps we'll have more talent in the years ahead, with fewer gaping holes. We'll see.

Nice that he will spend his nearing twilight years in Arizona. Very convenient.

Some of my elation is obviously tempered by losing Ray Horton. But I still think Bruce Arians + Todd Bowles > Ray Horton + Kirby Wilson.

Go CARDINALS!! GO BRUCE ALMIGHTY!!

I just watched his interview and I have to admit that I liked Arians. The job doesn't seem to big for him. One thing he said, and it's something I have been thinking wasn't the case with Horton, is that he didn't want to be a HC just to say he was a HC.

I don't think that was the case with Horton. Ever since I heard Horton's interview after he was done interviewing with the Cards, something didn't sit right with me. I think it was that he wouldnt handle the defense and that he would "hire experts and let them deal with it", or something to that effect.

The thing I like best about Arians is if he is able to hire the rumored offensive staff that has been mentioned. Tom Moore and Mike Tice would be great hires. Tice was an excellent OL coach and Moore has been generally regarded as a very good OC and has a great working relationship with Arians.

I like the hire. He will remake our offense which was the worst in the NFL. It will be nice, as a season ticket holder, to go to games and actually see some points scored by the offense. We have very good defensive players and they will do fine.

Moore and Tice would be good gets. I'd prefer a younger offensive coordinator to counter-balance Arians' age and experience. Maybe Moore as quarterbacks coach.

The thing I like best about Bruce Arians is his ability as a 'leader of men.' He seems able to relate to today's players and build lasting relationships. Big Ben was said to view him as a 'father figure.'

It will be interesting to see what kind of staff he is able to assemble.

This is a very good assessment of where the Cardinals stand & why Arians was the choice & a good choice. It's no secret to anyone that I am an ardent supporter of Ken Whisenhunt & was disappointed in his firing. That being said, Arians has been brought in to FIND a QBOF & DEVELOP a QBOF. He's very well qualified to do that. The Cardinals had to hire an offensive mind who's MAIN talent is working with QB's. The other younger candidates had some success in that arena, but certainly didn't have that success over as long a period of time as Arians did. In Pittsburgh, he did that almost to a fault. The Cardinals right now NEED him to do that almost to a fault. I don't agree with that Pittsburgh assessment, but that's an argument for another day. If Arians gets to the point where he's created a Pro Bowl prima donna QB in AZ, then the Cardinals will have made a tremendous step forward as a franchise! Easier to fix a D than the QB position!!

He was my top choice. I'm very happy with the selection of Arians.

Now we have to see what the rest of his staff will look like.

I am fine with the hire. I just wonder if anyone else is a tiny bit concerned with an Arizona team hiring a coach whose name rhymes with Aryans...

Man I knew that would come up sooner or later....No.

People should be more concerned that affirmative action has ourrun it's course than that stupidity.

Don't know about staff rumors of Arians, and just got up today so haven't read everything, but yesterday it was HORTON who was rumored to bring in Mike Tice if Horton was made head coach.

If Arians could get him, great.

It's funny to hear those claim Arians is Whisenhunt Part II because he was Whisenhunt's replacement in Pittsburgh. Comparing these two is like comparing Patrick Peterson to Adrian Peterson because they share a last name. Reality is this, outside of the fact that both were OC for the Steelers; that's where the similarities end.

Arians likes to run and encorporate screen plays into his offense. Whisenhunt wouldn't know the difference between a screen play and a screen door.

Arians works with his talent on offense to work within their strengths. With Whisenhunt, it was his way or no way on offense.

Whisenhunt lived and died on having his QB run plays with 5 to 7 step drops. I can't say I have inside on what Arians' playbook will be, but I'm pretty certain we won't be seeing nearly as many plays which involve the 5-7 step drops.

Arians works CLOSELY with his QB. He did in Cleveland, he did in Pittsburgh, he did in Indianapolis. Whisenhunt? Not so much. Andrew Luck and Ben Roethlisberger absolutely loved Arians... Loved him to the point where Roethlisberger publicly voiced anger at the Steeler organization for letting Arians get away. I'd be willing to wager Kevin Kolb, Ryan Lindley or John Skelton won't be making public statements of adulation over Whisenhunt anytime soon.

I'll be the first to say, Arians wasn't my first choice, or even my second (McCoy and Roman were 1-1A).. However, don't let previous coordinator position similarities cloud your judgement of Arians. The Cards aren't replacing Whisenhunt with Whisenhunt II.. They both were OC for the Steelers. That's where the similarities end.

As soon as the word "race" is used in the same sentence, I will.
