The Peyton Maning quest for the Cards is over. That is for sure. Kolb will most likely get first shot at being the starter but, per Whiz, Skelton will certainly compete.

This will be the first full off season with the Cardinals for both of them. (OTA's, mini-camps and then a longer training camp with the extra game). With the Labor Strike, Kolb never had that last year and neither did Skelton. When Skelton got drafted, Leinart was the starter and Anderson the backup going into training camp. They saw all the reps and Max Hall came on strong.

It will be interesting to watch what these guys can do. I also see Bartel being the 3rd qb as he does have experience.

I don't know dawg. Whisenhunt went with Warner in 2008 instead of the first round pick Leinart.
I bet a dollar it's Kolb starting if Peyton doesn't, open competition or not. Injury is very possible for the Kolbster and that would be Skelton's best shot at the reigns.

Yeah, but Leinart was in fact named the starter at the begining of the 2008 season.

Warner just out-worked him on and off the field, and then Whiz made Warner the starter at the end of preseason.

With the whole Manning story this offseason, it showed that the Cardinals are unsure of Kolb, and kinda gives them an excuse to justify a fair QB competition.

But just like boxing or MMA. If you want to be the champion, you have to beat the champ, because a tie goes to the belt holder (yes, there are draws, but more times than not if it is really close the champ keeps the belt).

Same way, Skelton has to prove without a shadow of a doubt he is better than Kolb and his huge contract.

I still don't believe that naming Leinart the starter in 2008 was anything but a PR move. Whisenhunt even hinted as much in an article I read last season. Wish I could find that again.

Regardless, it shows me that Double Duece will get a fair shot at starting without the competition being slanted in Kolb's favor by the money involved.

Agreed.

And naming Kolb the starter will be the same PR move, IMO.

If they are going to be stupid enough to hand Kolb 10 million there will be no "competition" for the job. We will get lip service about one, however, Kolb will start week one no matter how the 2 play.

However, it is just as inevitable that he wont last. Between the crowd booing the life out of him as he "leads" the Cards to a 1-4 start and his inevitable injuries Kolb will not last. But, just like last year, the damage will be done.

Christ I am bitter right now. Screw Kolb. Whats his agents name? I am going to call the Cards offices and claim he demanded a trade or to be released.

This is so bleeping stupid.

Sadly, I can't teach you how to think/comprehend. With that said, I'm not sure where I got that sig. Pre-game beers on the loser of the Kolb/Skelton catfight whenever we eventually meet up at a game?

If kolb gets his hair pulled in the scrap and is subsequently concussed and out for the year the bet is void.

Deal.

Injuries don't count. I think that is more than fair. We want to base this on ability, and what the Heach Coach thinks (wow, what variable that is).

EDIT: My wife looked over my shoulder, and told me to tell you if you ever figure out a way to show me how to think and comprehend to "pass the information along."

No respect. No respect at all I tells yah. How does she have that type of timing anyway?

I think she is just tired of me howling Double Deuce while watching the games, that is what I think.

I don't care if Kolb had 10 training camps and OTAs, he will NEVER develop heart. he is a coward and always will be. He might look good in training camp, because he's wearing the red QB jersey and isn't worrying about getting hit. As soon as those bullets are live we will see his true colors again.

Not even the Wizard of AZ could help...

Give me Skelton any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I think cardsfanmd is a victim of his own typing. I don't think he prefers Kolb. Thus the bet is null and void.

Then again I could be wrong. It's happened once before....

Yeah, our only hope is Kolb learning the playbook because Skelton has no accuracy. You either have the touch or you don't.

I watched them all. Kolb was 3-6 as a starter and Skelton was 5-2. And Skelton looked a hell of a lot more comfortable in the pocket than Kolb did.

No.

I didn't watch a single game.

Lol.

I watched and Kolb was a joke. Skelton not much better but at least he won.

Yup.

This.

Well then why even bet? I think the concussed part is gonna be a given, even though it won't be by hair pull. I'll bet $20 with anyone that Kolb won't play half a season with this team, either via suckage or injury.
