I think Matt Barkley was traded as insurance for last year to try an avoid another QB injury debacle. I think we only lose a 7th rd pick for Barkley.
Logan Thomas was a gamble as are most draft picks. The hit rate on drafting players, especially QB's is very low. I don't think you can compare players to other players. Logan Thomas, Jamarcus Russell, and all other QB's have no bearing on another player.
With that being said, if there is a QB that BASK feels confident could be the QBOF, I think they should draft them. Sitting behind Palmer (and Stanton)for a couple of years is a luxury we can afford.
I really believe Conner Cook is the most underrated QB in this draft. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cardinals take him in rd 1 or trade down with a team that takes him.
Wentz, Goff, Lynch, and Cook are no sure things and they all have risk. Everyone after that is not only a long term project but the risk of failure gets much higher. I would say Cardale Jones is the best gamble after the top 4 but he is a gamble.
