This will be a pivotal week for the market as it likely tests the March lows.

It looks like my instincts were wring in TWTR, not surprisingly. Reports are that they are likely to accept Musk's bid. I'm not sure why the price is only $50.67

Sorry @elindholm if we scared you off this one. I didn't think things would break like this. At least you made a profit, I guess

Ha, don't worry about it. I'm satisfied with how I handled it. The market is a disaster these days, so I'm happy to have made a small profit without too much stress, in this one case. I have found these four months very humbling.

One reason I got out was that I realized that Musk's bid sets an upper limit on the stock's value, at least in the short term. It was trading at 47-48, but there surely were some people who saw it at 60-70+, so it had some upward pull from them. As long as Musk's offer is live, there's no chance of the stock getting above his price point. But until it goes through, which could take forever even if the board accepts the offer quickly, there is uncertainty. So basically you're looking at 54.20 minus an uncertaintly deduction. Get it at 51, and you're "guaranteed" a 6.3% profit, but the big guys holding TWTR probably think that they can do better than that over the time it will take for the deal to close.

A guaranteed 6-7% looks pretty appealing in this market.

JC Penney owners are making a bid for Kohl's (KSS). I'm not sure about this one as JC Penney is owned by Simon Properties. There could be some synergy with the two retailers as they serve the same demographic despite Penney's recent struggles.

I tried to buy TWTR this morning, but I was restricted as I believe my firm is involved in the deal. Oh well.

Volatility measures remain relentless... Be careful on discounts out there.

MAGA stock earnings reports will be key in my opinion. If we have a crack in AAPL, AMZN, GOOG, or MSFT, look out.

I'm very curious if the destruction of bots can right the ship and reduce the misinformation and nonsense going on.

I'm more curious about the subscription model and user authentication. I imagine it tiered based on use, but requiring authentication could really clean things ups. While anonymity can be good in some cases, it creates a lot of toxic behavior.

I really think TWTR's hand was forced with the prospect of a bad quarterly report that would've tanked the stock.

I think that is one of the same. The authentication and subcription cost will verify real people and eliminate bots.

We all saw that when newspaper websites started making you login through facebook so you do not post ANON, people were still toxic AF.

I think I get what you're saying.. but there is a difference between bots and people just sharing their opinions. I think thats the goal. Spamming bots is one thing... People with opinions that others get triggered by are another.

A lot of the weirdest opinions and biggest disinformation come from bot armies that form opinions in people.

I don't disagree. The only thing that matters IMO is that we make sure these accounts are all verified for singular use. How we get there at this point...who knows?

Yeah. In the age of self aware AI, who knows.. all we need is a few solid hackers and they can put AI in control of all that. That's a whole other fish to fry though. I'll take Elon's path for now for a starting point.
