Ditto, Vermeil was terrifiic I remember after hsi first game we all commented here on how we wished he'd do that more often.

Yep, that was Vermeil, Jaws and Mike Patrick iirc, in the back-end of the MNF doubleheader last year.

I was ok with Ditka. He did make a few mistakes. I think it was harder for him to get a word in with mike greenburg talking so much. That guy just loves to hear himself talk.

Kawakami said that Greenie made the classic radio mistake, radio guys hate dead air so any dead air he just started nervously talking to fill the dead air.

On tv dead air isn't always a bad thing.

I guess Greenie was at some function prior to the game where kawakami was and he said you could not only see he was nervous, he admitted he was nervous. So I guess that's why he was jabbering so much.

And yes 40 the lack of replays bugged me, lots of plays I wanted to see again and didn't get a replay.

I don't understand the need for a 3 man booth on Monday night's anyway. Sure, it was good 30 years ago with Howard Cosell, but that was anew concept and they had 3 guys who meshed perfectly as an announcing team. I can't stand Jaworski or Theisman. Kornheiser is useless just like Dennis Miller was. I would like to see Mike Tirico and, maybe Golic, as a team. My favorite was when Mike Patrick was teamed with Paul McGuire. McGuire, i always thought was pretty funny and knew the game.

McGuire does the college games now. What I love about him is he always see something that is not obvious on plays and points it out. He's got eagle eyes. Love the guy. He's Joe Fan. Trouble was when he was on with Theisman, Theisman would disagree with everything just to be disagreeable. Now there is a worthless commentator.

Wow. I always felt the exact opposite - I couldn't stand listening to McGuire and thought he was the one constantly taking a contrarian view to everything anybody else said. Not that I liked Thiesman or Mike Patrick, either. I always thought McGuire had a face for radio and a voice for newspaper. :D

You know what bothered me? Showing highlights of Ditka's playing days during the final drive.

For the record, I personally do not understand what target market ESPN hopes to capture with Mike Greenberg. The 'effeminate, obnoxious, males over 35'? Clearly he doesn't appeal to women - since I have yet to hear a women say they think his voice or personality is attractive... and I have actually asked several. Mike Golic is decent, not great, but definately not bad. When Golic is paired with Eric Kzchsscelious (sp?) in the morning - brilliant! Eric K was always very underrated on ESPN radio. Greenberg is someone who thinks his stories of wearing his 'high-school' tennis uniform while being in a designer coffee shop is funny. I can't stand him.

McGuire is AWFUL. I have to mute the TV when he's on, Just when I thought we were done with him, he pops up on college games. His "watch this, watch right here, watch now, watch this... boom!" grinds me.

But hey, at least Bill Maas isn't around any more.
