Mock drafts prior to June aren't very useful, with guys jumping 10 slots either way from week to week. By this time they start converging as everyone looks at each other's mocks and the rumor mill starts going. The Inside Hoops mock is no better nor any worse than most straight mocks (no individual player analysis), but their view suggests the Suns may have some attractive options.

1. Milwaukee - Andrew Bogut (7-0 260, C)
2. Atlanta - Marvin Williams (6-9 225, SF)
3. Portland - Gerald Green (6-7 200, SG)
4. New Orleans - Chris Paul (6-0 190, PG)
5. Charlotte - Deron Williams (6-3 210, PG)
6. Utah - Raymond Felton (6-0 180, PG)
7. Toronto - Fran Vazquez (6-11 230, PF)
8. New York - Channing Frye (6-11 250, C)
9. Golden State - Sean May (6-9 260, PF)
10. LA Lakers - Martynas Andriuskevicius (7-3 230, C)
11. Orlando - Martell Webster (6-7 230 SF)
12. LA Clippers - Danny Granger 6-8 230, SF)
13. Charlotte - Antoine Wright (6-7 210, SG/SF)
14. Minnesota - Joey Graham (6-7 220, SF)
15. New Jersey - Chris Taft (6-10 250, PF)
16. Toronto - Hakim Warrick (6-8 220, SF)
17. Indiana - Tiago Splitter (6-10 235, PF)
18. Boston - Charlie Villanueva (6-10 240, PF)
19. Memphis - Rashad McCants (6-4 200, SG)
20. Denver - Rudy Fernandez (6-5 200, SG)
21. Phoenix - Andray Blatche (6-11 240, PF/C)
22. Denver - Ersan Ilyasova
23. Sacramento - Ike Diogu (6-8 255, PF)
24. Houston - Jarrett Jack (6-3 200, PG)
25. Seattle - Johan Petro (7-1 250, C)
26. Detroit - Kennedy Winston (6-6 230, SF)
27. Utah - Monta Ellis (6-2 170, G)
28. San Antonio - Ryan Gomes (6-7 245 F)
29. Miami - Wayne Simien (6-9 255, PF)
30. New York - Andrew Bynum (6-11 270, C)

Didn't they read about the Suns guarantee to Ike?

In these mock drafts, you can go about 3-4 players above where the suns pick because by #21 in every draft this many players will probably drop down, and some below will move up.

Tiago Splitter is going to back out of the draft becase his buy-out is so big, he may have to stay out for 2-3 years.

I would really like to see Warrick drop, but that is probably not going to happen, so the suns will absolutely take the best player availablle at 21.

Cotton always said you can never have enough shooters, and I am thinking that D'Antoni is thinking the same way. So with that thinking, it appears by this draft that player would be Rudy Rudy Fernandez.

What about Salim? He can really shoot the rock and can make plays at the point

He will be a mid 2nd round pick.

I don't see Taft or May going that high. I like Andray Blatche although I'm not sure how NBA ready he is. Whoever we draft I would like them to be somewhat NBA ready, and not 2-3 years away from being productive. After all, we need depth and we need it now. If Diogu or Petro are both there when we pick, I'd much rather go in that direction.

sunsfn is right. he has very little playmaking ability. he cannot transition to the point. he's an undersized two guard.

if you are being sarcastic I apologize, but I think that story about the guarantee was pure speculation. There's no way the Phoenix Suns would guarantee someone this early. There's really no reason to do it.

I've also read that he's measuring about 5-11 in shoes. That can't help things. I disagree regarding his playmaking skills though. By no means do I think he's a natural point guard, but he can handle the ball and move it around a bit.

I hope the Suns dont take Blatche. I really dont think we should take a HS player (especially if the Pac 10 PoY is on the board). Blatche in a lot of ways (from his scouting report) sounds like S. Hunter. Tall, thin big man who can run the floor but likes to take plays off. If somehow se resign Hunter (and I hope we do), I think Blatche would be kind of a wasted pick. I'd rather have a big guy who contrasts w/ Hunter more off the bench (though apparently Blatche likes to shoot the long ball, so maybe he isnt that similar).

Anyway, even though he's "undersized" and maybe not terribly athletic, I say, draft Ike!

I would not be shocked if the Suns made Ike's agent a commitment. It's not like the Suns people haven't had a chance to look at him. Holding a workout won't tell them much they don't know.

The game seems to be for players with eligiblity to shop around for a guarantees. If they can't get one near where they expect to be taken, they just withdraw. For Ike, he might go earlier but doesn't want to risk falling to the second round.

I still say if Diogu's measurements are near what Chad Ford reported he will be long gone by the time the Phoenix Suns pick. I would add to Andy's list Francisco Garcia.
