As the Fitz' situation continues to play itself out there seems to be (2) distinct camps with we, the fans, caught in the middle. One side saying Fitz' should "care" enough to get this done. The other saying "mananagement" should "care" enough to get this done. Sad truth is, I don't think either side REALLY cares about us, the fans.
Oh, the players may say all the right things. ie; I LOVE playing for the Cardinals; I LOVE this city; I LOVE the fans, etc... ...And management may echo the same sentiments with, "We'll do whatever it takes to bring you a winner". BUT this "love" seems to me very superficial. Like an 8x10 photo you get from your favorite actress who signs it, "ALL MY LOVE", so-and-so. Did she even spell your name right?? Course, our "love" as fans can be just as fickle. WIN the game and we'll lift your name on high, but LOSE it, and we'll crucify you in a heart-beat and run you out of town.
Reality is the NFL is a business--always has been and always will be. ....And genuine "caring" can often get lost when it comes to millions of dollars. BUT I do know there are Kurt Warners, and Nate Hodels, who have shown us "real examples" of genuine caring this past year. ...And I'm sure there are others who have as well that I'm not aware of. To ALL of them I say a heart-felt, THANK-YOU!! We will "love" our Cardinals in 2008 and cheer them on regardless of who "wears" the uniform. ...And while we were all "dreaming" of "Free Agency" being like Christmas morning for us, history has shown that MOST of these "quick-fix" acquisitions DON'T work out and hurt the team in the long run. Not ALL, but MOST, so we might want to keep that in mind. Let's see how this all plays out. GO CARDS!! WE CARE!!
