Well, it wasn't pretty, and it certainly wasn't convincing, but Janmaat and Cisse's combined moment of brilliance took the three points for us. I will take it.

Nice cross by Janmaat and a true poachers goal. Nice win.

33% possession. You aren't going to win, or draw, many games where you have 33% possession. Or no shots on goal in an entire half.

Granted, we were cheated out of a clear penalty in the early stages, so we should have had a draw. But simply handing the opposition 2/3 of the field for possession is idiotic, scared stupid tactics. Still, we didn't play to earn points, so we didn't earn points.

Carver had better not be back next season.

Okay Carver, you douche. Emmanuel "I can't score in the Premier League" Riviere leads your line while the wonder kid Ayoze Perez, who scores wonder goals, is on the bench? Are you sure you actually want the job? Are you actively TRYING to lose games? What an effing MORON! Oh, and thanks for putting the useless Gouffran back in the starting eleven, asshat!

Okay, Gouffran's worthless. Everyone knows that. Everyone but Carver. He sucked, badly, all game. Then he gives the ball up stupidly not once, but twice, in the buildup to the penalty. THEN he gives up the penalty, effectively ending the game. So what does Carver do about this abysmal performance? He brings on a winger and takes out AMEOBI instead of GOUFFRAN! In fact, he made TWO subs after this, and STILL kept Gouffran on.

He's an absolute garbage manager, and if Ashely keeps him on as a muppet coach for next season, I'll have to reassess who I root for. There is absolutely no way anybody could justify Carver keeping the job. NONE.

:biglaugh:

Yeah, that's not going to happen. I give us maybe a 10% chance at a draw, if we keep it ugly and break up play with lots of fouls. Less than a 5% chance of all three points. Not only do we suck, we're down to one, count 'em ONE, fit central defender--Mike Williamson. Captain Colo is suspended. We don't have a fit left back--Ryan Taylor or Jonas Guttierez will fill in. Our excellent right back will have to probably fill in in central defense, leaving God knows who to play right back. Cisse's out suspended. We still have a ton of injuries outside of defense. And useless Carver's still the coach, so he'll probably leave our best flair players, Perez and Cabella, on the bench. Other than those problems, we have a real shot lol

And, to make it worse, I'll be watching at the pub with my buddy, an Arsenal fan :)

Ouch. It is too damn early here to watch games in pubs. I have to settle downloading the game and praying that I am not spoiled. Or I could succumb and get cable again..... nah.

Sports encapsulates why I must have cable, and probably always will. Being able to record live sports is huge. Also, just having cable so I can watch any BPL game online is big too, although if it isn't on TV, I have to watch it live.

Or, heck, being on the east coast, I can pay outrageously to watch it in a pub with fantastic food (hooray Scotch eggs!).

I had scotch eggs for the first time about 3 weeks ago. Interesting. Overpriced but tasty. Tell me about the game. I only saw the score ticker at the bar.

First half we were pathetic. Kicking the ball right to them, kicking it out of bounds, no effort, nothing. Down. 2-0. Carver must have flipped a table at half time. 2nd half a combo of Arsenal just stopping trying and us trying our socks off. Got the 1st goal and bossed the half, but just didn't have the quality for the equalizer. A much better result than I'd hoped for.

We're actually not absolutely hopeless. Our midfield is getting manhandled, and Sissokho is NOT a captain and shows NO desire if he isn't trying to go forward, but we've had some decent attacking play in there. We had a clear penalty denied too, so we should be tied. You mean Newcastle actually have a CHANCE in the second half? Who'd have thunk it? lol

For the first time, Carver set the team up to play positive tactics for a whole game. Yeah, we lost 2-0, but it should have been 2-1 (denied a CLEAR penalty--not sure what we have to do to earn one of those any more), so the game could have been completely different. It only took Carver roughly 1/4 of the season to figure out that negative tactics DON'T WORK.

Hats off to the manager for actually managing well for once, though we didn't get anything out of it.

You could tell they tried to play positive but they were dominated the first half. Newcastle I thought had the better half until the 2nd goal. I think it was a penalty, but not a clear one. To be honest though, I wasn't paying that much attention anymore after the 2-0. To be fair, it could have easily been 3-1 or 4-1 even. The Sterling miss from 4 yards was a shot that he hits 8 out of 10 times.

Stupid second challenge for Sissokho.

Can't argue with any of that. And you didn't miss anything after it went 2-0.

Sissokho is really getting under my skin. I don't know why he's being made captain in Captain Colo's stead, except to try to keep him content. More and more, I'm thinking it would be best to get rid of him and use the money for a domestic replacement. He disappears when the going gets tough.

This is exactly why Carver must go, and we're crossing our fingers to not get relegated. The team comes out pressing, keeping the ball for a great majority of the possession. They fight, and sure enough, come up with a goal. Great! Well done to get the team prepared, Carver! Then the problems set in.

The minute, I mean the MINUTE, the team scores, the negative tactics are back. Carver pulls the team back deep into their own zone, allows Swansea the majority of possession, and allows them to simply walk the ball into the final third of the pitch. What happens? Set piece after set piece until Swansea score in 1st half injury time. Then, does Carver change anything at the half? Nope. More negative tactics, giving Swansea an easy goal early in the 2nd half, and soon after a 3rd easy goal. Sure, De Jong snags a late one back on a great individual shot, but it's very much against the run of play.

Carver is such a cowardly coach. We finally, FINALLY get him having the team press up the pitch to play positive football, only to have him completely revert to form as soon as we get a goal. Hey, ********, THERE'S STILL THE MAJORITY OF THE GAME TO PLAY!!! You can't park the bus with a 1-0 lead with that much of the game to go.

Ugh. Really, will the Magpies get another point this season? The only reason we probably won't go down is because we got to a high enough (barely) point total before Carver took over. What an effing shambles this season has become.

Predictability nailed us for a goal before 1 minute was up. Every single time we get the kickoff at the beginning of the game or half, we roll it slowly to the right and bomb it downfield. Leicester, having done their homework, STEALS the kickoff! They take it straight into our half, earn a corner, and get a goal.

YOU CANNOT BE SO ******* PREDICTABLE!!! 2-0 down and almost no chance of getting a goal, let alone an equalizer. It'd take a miracle to get a draw here, let alone a win. We'd have to make positive subs to start with. Heh, good luck with that, with Carver in charge.

Newcastle will be lucky, VERY lucky, not to go down. Absolutely sickening, our form, our effort. Carver as manager is just as sickening.

Williamson sent off in a moment of pure madness. Janmaat sent off due to a stupid challenge. Janmaat is pure class normally and has been our best player. I'm afraid he's just gotten fed up, has given up on the club, and just doesn't want to even play any more. He had his shirt off before he even hit the tunnel. Disgraceful, absolutely disgraceful.

This is down to Ashley. Sure, with revisionist history, you can say he shouldn't have let Pardew go. He didn't have to. I don't mind that we got rid of him, though--we had to. He had no invention, no ideas, at the end. The big problem is that Ashley refused to get a new manager in, refused to bring in ANY reinforcements in the winter when we were DESPERATE for reinforcements, and even SOLD two defenders in the winter window. I would KILL to have Mbiwa and Santon in the side right now.

Right, well, we have two senior defenders in the side available for next week--Coloccini and Dummet. How in the hell do we avoid the drop now, save for prayer?

Crucial point for Newcastle today, a massive point, which is great combined with the Hull loss. The players actually played their hearts out, at long last. Now let's beat QPR next week and, with a Hull loss, we'll be safe.

So, in the game we have to win to make absolute sure we survive in the Premier League, Carver...

Drops top striker Perez from the lineup
Instead starts the striker with one PL goal
Brings Anita in instead of the offensive flair player Cabella
Leaves our best young winger out of the squad
Leaves our bright young plugger midfielder out of the squad

Has Carver been told he gets to keep the job if he gets relegated to the Championship or something? Christ, Carver, A DRAW MEANS NOTHING!!! Pathetic!!! In the game you MUST win, you put out a COWARDLY lineup!!! Argh!!!!!

Well, I'd best hope Hull loses. That's the only way Newcastle's staying up.
