An acceptable beginning to the Premier League season. A strong draw with Southampton. Sure, we gave up two goals, but our central defenders were a new signing who played 25 minutes in preseason, and our captain who didn't play a minute in preseason. I think we have real quality there in Chancel Mbemba, too. We showed real danger going forward, and new boy Wjnaldum scored a beauty of a goal. I'll take it.

Oh, and Sunderland got their asses kicked yesterday. That's always a nice little bonus :)

I was watching the other game on NBC Sports. From what I saw New Castle did look good. Going to be interesting to see how they play this year.

Watched Arsenal lose at home to West Ham.

Yeah, my friend's in his cups over that game. Newcastle have a tough few games coming up. If we can get a point or two away at Swansea and away at Man U, I'll be happy.

You know, I thought Newcastle had put the negative tactics in the past. I swear I was watching the Pardew/Carver team in the first half. I literally--LITERALLY--wouldn't even see a Newcastle player on the TV screen until Swansea reached the final third. Pathetic. Scared little bitch tactics. Parking the bus. Really, McClaren? Really? I'm fine in losing this fixture--it was a long shot to win anyway--so why not come out and go for it? Why not at least try to win instead of playing scared "I hope we draw" football? Inexcusable.

And don't even get me started about effing Janmaat. Fan's choice in preseason as captain, eh? Well, that ain't captain behavior.

Janmaat really screwed the pooch on his 2 yellows. That was pathetic.

Yep, and he knows it. Fell over himself apologizing. Even though he wants to deny it, I'm thinking McClaren told him to rough Monterro up a bit. Which is fine, really, but you gotta be smart about it. I laughed when the commentators said, in the old days, this would just be standard fare against talented players lol

Oh brother, what a terrible game. Now without Janmaat for the Man U trip.

An excellent draw at Man U. For once we weren't screwed by the ref against the big team, but rather benefited from a gift call. Struck the woodwork and had arguably the three best chances of the game. Yeah, we gave up the lion's share of possession and shots, but we walked in and bagged a point and a clean sheet. This team will take time to gel with all the new talent, so I will gladly take it.

No, no, no, McClaren, you effing IDIOT! You promised, Ashley promised...you all EFFING PROMISED you would take the cups seriously! GORRAM IT, YOU PROMISED! NINE EFFING CHANGES! Lascelles and Williamson in central defense? You are BEGGING THEM to net goals! FRICKIN' GOUFFRAN as a holding midfielder? Are you INSANE! Do you WANT Northampton to come beat you on your home ground? UGH!!!!!

Dear Lord, please, PLEASE do not let us fall in the second round of the Capital One Cup. Please don't do this to me. Yes, I know, McClaren and Newcastle are begging to lose today. When you make nine changes and bring in a bunch of scrubs, you're not taking it seriously. When you don't take it seriously, you're delivering a message to your players that this isn't a priority. As we've seen time and again in the past, this leads to the players not giving it their all and losing in the cups.

GOOD EFFING GOD, I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAVE YOU LOT LEARNED NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, meltdown over :)

Apparently I must eat my words. Northampton town are bad enough that we are crushing them. Even Mike Williamson has a goal, the lead-footed giant. Glad the lads were up for it.

And, man, Florian Thauvin looks an absolute stud. A goal and three assists!

Tough luck against Arsenal. Watched the second half so I missed the foul where Mitrolic was sent off. Saw it at HT. Thought a yellow card was warranted but not a red. Do believe a penalty should have been awarded to Arsenal in the first half. But at least your team hung in there till the very end. Crews is ab absolute beast in goal. He saved New Castle mutliple times.

Yeah, Krul does well for us in goal. His only weakness is he absolutely sucks at distributing the ball down field. The ref did suck, completely and utterly. So we should have been down a goal from a penalty (accidental foot tangling, but a penalty still), but we would have had eleven men to try to get another goal. The ref was an absolute joke.

If you asked me before the game, I'd have jumped on the chance to get a point from Chelsea. Yeah, I'm disappointed they gave up the 2-0 lead, and we still don't have a win--and we're still in the drop zone. Still, I expected a loss here, and we came out and played hard, and played well. I'll take it.

Finally! And with style points too. FOUR for Gini Wjnaldum. One for new boy Mitrovic, and his first at home. Another for Perez. It was nervy there for a while, but I will take it.

A victory is always good no matter how it is done. Fulham on the other hand keeps drawing in their games. Cannot seem to get over the hump.

Next summer I am taking my sister and her daughters over to London for a week. Will be offseason for soccer but I am going to try to sneak away for a half day and go to Fulham's Craven Cottage for a tour of the stadium. Been almost 30 years since I last was there.

Draws are better than losses, at least.

I hope you can. I've never been in a soccer stadium myself. My first time in England was pre-soccer fan times, and my second was in the offseason too.

If the Cards ever play a game in London it will be during the soccer season. With my luck Fulham will be playing a Sunday game when the Cards would be playing.

If they do I am going for sure. I want to go in March of next year, but we will have to see how it goes.

I'd like to go to Liverpool at home against Chelsea on March 12. Hopefully finances allow it.

It hasn't changed much. It would be easy to slag off Craven Cottage for being small and low on facilities, but the place has charm and character and I love it. One of my favourite away days by far, area around the ground is great too.

It helps that Sunderland have a good record there of course, but hope it how you remember it.

What say the Cards get announced for a Wembley game... You coming over?.... Sunderland away to Fulham on the Saturday, Cards on the Sunday....
