Do yourself a favor and go to youtube. He will get you excited. He's Hester like. Has speed like Chris Johnson. We will not be sorry with this pick!

He ran a 4.46 40yd dash. CJ was in the 4.2's

Elusiveness is a good quality. At that level of football though I am wondering if the level of competition made it look better than it actually was.

Mardy Gilyard was on the board. That's all I'm sayin.

going to youtube now.

WR Andre Roberts
Ht.: 5-11 Wt. 195:
School: The Citadel

Hometown: Columbia, S.C.
Key statistic: Ranks second all-time in Southern Conference in career catches (285) and receiving yards (3,743).
Why he can make the jump: Teams were very encouraged by what they saw at Senior Bowl and combine. Quick-footed, precise route-runner is an excellent student of the game. His 1,160 career punt return yards for the Bulldogs attest to his elusiveness in that role.
Why he can't: Lack of height a huge negative. Must prove durability. Doesn't have blazing speed to represent a downfield threat. May struggle to handle press coverage at the line of scrimmage.

From azsportsfan01's post:

Blazing fast, he also ran track for the Citadel in 2007. Roberts ran a 23.05 in the 200 meters and he ran the anchor leg of the 4x100m relay team that won at the Penn Relays for the fifth-consecutive time in Citadel history, earning his first Penn Relays Championship watch.

So which one is correct?

Kiper and Gruden gushing over Roberts. They say it is an awesome pick.

Believe Stump Mitchell was from the Citadel also.

I really should shut up because I just don't know anything about this guy. Those that do seem to really like him.

Come on, Chris Johnson is a legitimate 4.2, he's not that fast.

I can honestly say I've never heard of him but if he proves to be an effective punt returner and 4th WR for us that will be great. Plus 5-11 isn't that short, he's taller than Steve Smith and only an inch shorter than Breaston.

Andre Roberts is gonna be GOOD no doubt it. Safe hands, excellent speed, resilient, good RAC receiver and an excellent returner. Excellent pick just a round or two to high.

The thing that jumps out on punt returns is he makes the first man miss everytime. I mean his long returns were not just because of good blocking they were because he made someone miss and then the blocking helped him.

I think Novarro Bowman is a terrible fit for 3-4 defense.

Just got back from youtube.

We have found our punt returner.... I am still skeptical of his level of competition. It does look like he played Clemson a bit and came out looking good on the small set of highlights I saw.

Unfortunately I saw more wiggle, and elusiveness than overall speed. Will he turn into our Wes Welker? Maybe. I do not see him as a deep threat like Wallace.

Also, I don't see Hester like ability. Especially since I remember Hester at Miami. But being Hester-like still puts him in the Welker category for returners. And that is where I think he will end up. Our version of Welker from a receiver and returner standpoint.

p.s. Mayock sounds DEAD!!!!!!!!

Agreed. Great wiggle. Great cutting ability.

I was thinking the same thing when I watched the tape. I like this pick.

If he can be an above average punt returner (possibly kick returner as well) as well as being a pretty dynamic underneath receiver, this turns into a very good pick. If not, than it is a total reach. Either way, it looks like we could be preparing for life after Steve Breaston.

On the opposite end of the spectrum is Kiper who has been acting all butt hurt the whole time because he put his literally told McShay he would put his cred on the line that Clausen would go top 10 and McShay said he would fall out of the first round. Kiper was acting like a grumpy old man the whole time and it seamed like the rest of the analysts were taking him to task on everything he said from half way through the first round on.

It made the ESPN show just horrid this year the way they were acting. Where as Mayock and Canfora were doing their best impressions of Miss Cleo almost every time knowing who the picks were before they were announced.
