Outside of Ronaldo being red carded or injured, this is a great turn of events for the USMNT. Portugal will be without Pepe in their game against us, which is a huge blow. As long as we beat Ghana (which is a big ask), we are in a pretty good position. If Germany beats Ghana as well, then they may not field their A team against us in the last game. It all depends on us winning against Ghana and hitting Portugal hard.

Well, I think, with proper defensive work and patience, Germany can be had on the break. Lahm (sp?) got caught in possession a few times, Germany pressed too far forward on occasion, and 10-man Portugal got a few chances in the 2nd half.

Of course, that 'proper defensive work and patience' is going to be super, super tough,, because Germany is frickin' SCARY good. Even their B team would be good, looking at their substitutes. We really need to go in having secured 2nd. Failing that, yes, having them crush Ghana would be ideal.

First up, though, let's go out and beat our nemesis tonight.

I wonder if they had odds for a first minute goal.. if so, someone somewhere just made a ton of money!

Boy if Bradley were a step faster that would have been 2-0 he couldn't get there and Altidores shot was blocked.

LOL...VP Biden missed the goal. If this ends 1-0, he's gonna be ticked.

You could say Ghana was the better side in the first half and blew an amazing chance at the end of the half let's see what adjustments JK makes because if Ghana continues to do what they have been most of the first half it will be hard to keep them out of the back of the net

That was a beginners mistake that the Ghana defender made for the goal. You never open the path to the inside..
Other than that Ghana has looked much better, it's a miracle they have not scored.

Okay, first, holy crap, that was awesome! We're up 1-0 at the break, a great place to be.

That said, we're absolutely sucking ass out there. We scored in the first minute and then parked the frickin' bus. Beckerman, predictably, has been awful. Gave up a horrendous free kick at the edge of the box (luckily advantage was given for the shot), gives away possession, kicked the ball straight out of play, etc. He's supposed to be defensive midfield cover, and our defensive midfield has been dominated. Take him out, please.

Bedoya has been a bright spot. He's one of the few actually keeping possession, and looks good going forward. Johansson (sp?) showed a bit of flash, and we'll need him. Bradley is playing like a five year old. Absolutely killing our team. Beasley is going to be attacked all tourney. We don't have any other options, really, but he's not getting the job done. Too old, too slow, lacking the necessary technical skill at the position. They're marauding down the right flank at will.

Altidore went down. Dempsey has a nose injury. Besler might have a hammy. This all sucks, but you know what, boys? Suck it the eff up. You're not playing well as a collective team. JK, change tactics, and STOP parking the bus. Also, please take out KB :) Bradley, collect yourself, calm down, and take charge. Maintain possession, keep composure as a team, and press forward. We can't sit back and let them attack us for an entire game.

Truth. This needs to change. We're cringing, parking the bus. It has to stop, or we will lose.

I get the feeling Stout does not like Beckerman :)
