Are the Dutch this good, or is Spain very over-rated this year?

Probably a bit of both, although Spain appears to be really overrated. You can definitely see their age. Xavi just doesn't have it anymore.

Netherlands are a pretty mediocre side to be honest.

They have Van Persie and Robben but the rest of their team is rather mediocre or young talents.

I heard this before prior to today's game, and saw predictions that don't expect them to get out of Group stage, but didn't expect a 5-1 shellacking like this. I wasn't able to sit and watch the whole game, so was it a fluke, or total domination?

They smashed em. Hit the bar too.

Love to see Spain get done over. Too cocky.

That was not a penalty that Spain got.

Yes it was. He took his feet from out under him. It may be a light penalty, but it is definitely a foul and a penalty.

First half was very even. Second half was all Dutch. Haven't seen Spain unravel that bad recently...even in the Confed Cup.

Yep, saw that later. I had the game on at work but couldn't really watch it. Had to settle for the highlights of the goals and stuff. Casillas did not have a fun day. He was atrocious.

Rooney and Gerrard needed to be dropped ages ago.

I did email Roy to tell him this, but I don't think he listened. Shame, as England didn't deserve to lose that game.

Italy was clearly the better and more conditioned team.

I wouldn't say 'clearly.' It was a pretty close game all in all. England and their pace gave them enough chances to score. In fact, I'd say that Italy was a little better in the final pass element of the game than England, and that is all that they needed.

You can also add in that throwing Rooney out on the wings (or at least out left) instead of the middle to protect his defensive liabilities was interesting. Sterling should have been playing out left and Rooney in the middle to start the game. They finally moved him out right against Chillelini after the break which helped.

Rooney looked out of place all game. England has some good young pieces it just seems they lack discipline. Italy should have had 4 goals with the amount of chances they had.

England definitely ran out of steam 3/4 of the way through the match. They couldn't even manage to get their feet around the ball for a cross.

How did it help? Italy parked the bus, and England floundered.

Bosnia actually played well, or Argentina just toyed with them.
Bosnia has a good team and it wouldn't shock me to see them be the 2nd team. They are also very young.

PS that pirlo shot that bended over the wall was one of the nicest shots I have seen that didn't make the back of the net. He amazes me every time I watch him he just has such a command and touch over the ball. A rare breed don't know if Italy will ever find another like him when he decides to hang up the cleats

One of the highlights of the WC so far for me. I would also put Mack's comments about Pirlo not being bothers by the heat up there. :)

What a massive idiot Pepe is, gives the ref every excuse in the world to give him a red after having his hand in Mullers face first of all.
