We're going to be debt free except our house by February, so lately we've had a plumbing leak at our house, a rock hit and chipped our windshield (a patch should fix it), and we had a flat tire (tire needs to be replaced too).
Thankfully it's no big deal since we have an emergency fund in place for these types of things.
Just a few months ago we would have used a credit card to pay for the repairs.

We're back on the Dave Ramsey wagon again...after some messages from our pastor got me motivated.
We have no credit card debt, just some student loans, the cars and house. But in going over the budget and what we make....dang, found a lot of extra cash to put into paying off the student loans and cars.
Brian or Shawn, you guys might be interested in listening to some of the messages by our pastor...
www.lifechurch.tv, then click on the "Mind Your Own Business" thing on the frontpage...there have been 3 messages so far.
All great stuff.

sweet dude - i'll check it out. i'm actually kicking off our churches first "No Debt, No Sweat" classes on January 7. It will run for 13 weeks and basically use the same principles that Ramsey talks about. This means I'll be taking a break from my Apologetics teaching - but I think it will be worth it - it's for a good cause.

You should really see what Craig has to say as well...it's pretty amazing, he's a very good speaker and has some great points and strategies.

Im about 300 bucks away from paying off my first credit card. Kind of excited. Still have 2 more to go, but hey, it's progress!

My wife and I have agreed to start following Dave's plan, and I found FPU class at a church near where we live that starts later this month. I bought his book Total Money Makeover about 6 months ago, and finally made myself read it. I've since read it about 4 times in the past week. This may sound lame, but for the first time in my adult life, I've made a budget and actually have spent everything on paper out to the end of the month. WOW!
What an eye opener!
How does it feel Brian, to not owe anyone a cent? Can't wait to experience it!

FYI: It's best to buy the economy size koolaid, use a coupon and pay with cash.
