Because obviously a couple of games isnt enough to judge the talent level. Look at McCown, he got the last-what-3 games last year as a 'try out'? And he was annointed the starter this year and he has shown nothing to deserve that. Let Navarre come in and see what he has, and stick with him. We know what King and McCown have already, lets see if Navarre can show any flashes during the last half of the season.
I dont know if he has any 'obivous talent' to grrom for the future, thats what letting him start is all about
The obvious talent and grooming thing was a direct quote from your post, you said it's not like he was a 2nd rounder that had obvious talent we were grooming for the future.
The fact is the only reason Josh started this year is Green said he was the guy, I guarantee you if we'd hired another coach, Josh wasn't going to start we'd have started someone else.
I guess my point is Navarre isn't a kid you can evaluate now he's very likely not ready to play he'll need a couple of years of coaching and watching before he is. If you judge him now, you'll say no chance and bury him.
At the combine they put him through the standard throwing drills, he was bad on shorter passes and touch passes that scouts dropped him several rounds on their boards.
Given how our offense has looked, and our OL, we're going to be asking him to throw the very routes he struggled so badly with in college.
