13 part series on the Revolutionary War on the History Channel. I've watched the first two, and they are awesome. I've got this on DVR and am burning it out to DVD to show my kids later in life. This is a great look at the Revolution, why we did what we did, how we did it, who did it, what was risked and everything else. It's amazing.

Sunday nights at ten or eleven...not sure the time...I DVR it and watch it/burn it later.

History Channel rules!

I'm Tivoing them, but I've only watched the first half of the first one so far.

Any chance I could get a copy of those on DVD from you? ...My mother in law is a huge fan of stuff like that, and I don't think she's watching them (and I don't want her watching them at my house....plus, I won't save all of them at the same time on Tivo). I'll pay you above and beyond the shipping for them.

If you get the chance, you should try to catch "Washington: The Warrior" on History channel, too. Really well done--seems like it's done by the same people.

:stupid:

If you do it for Pariah, you have to do it for me too. I will pay you too.

I wish I would have know about this before it started. Do you know if they plan on rerunning the first few episodes again? I really enjoy series such as these. With 13 episodes, they really have time to explain important details.

I've gotta believe that just like everything else on cable, it's going to get broadcast into the ground.

The first episode deals with the Stamp Act and, Boston "Massacre" and the Boston Tea Party.

The second one, according to the Tivo summary, only deals with Bunker Hill.

Sure, I can send you a DVD of the first two eps. Just PM me both of your addresses.

The third one is going to be awesome....deals with the drafting of the Dec. of Independance.

Washington The Warrior was pretty awesome too...I'm a History Channel nut, and I'm really glad they are focusing on this period of history now instead of all Hitler, all the time like it was a few years ago.

Yeah, it's pretty awesome because of that. I know a lot of the stuff, but there's a lot that I don't know and I'm always suprised at something.

Did you know that you can program the Cox DVR to record all new episodes of a program? At least with mine I am able to.

Not sure, but I have a new one in the family room and an old one in the bedroom and I use this feature on both. I can check when I get home.

When you go to record an episode, I think you have three options. Record all programs each week in this time slot, record all episodes of this program on this channel, and record all new episodes of this program on this channel.

I have the 8300 and when I go to record, I have a set a reminder to record, record now, and another option. I haven't spent much time playing with it. I heard that a firmware update happended a couple days ago, but that it did not appear to give me more recording options.

When I want to record a program, I just find the program in the Guide, and hit the record button. Are you doing something different?

The last time I used it was back in March when the Sopranos started, so my memory is a little rusty. On the guide I highlighted the program and hit Select. Ahha, that might be your problem. Maybe by hitting Record you don’t get the same screen as I do when I hit Select. Try hitting Select next time. When I get home I’ll try hitting Record and see what happens. I’ve never tried that before.

Yes, hit select and then you have options to record, including Record All First Run Episodes on this Channel. You never have to set it again...

Also worth noting, as D-Dogg showed me, to also set the expiration to "never" at this time also.

I'm not that worried about it anyway. I am mostly a DVD/video game guy anyway. My next step is to get a good DVD recorder to record all of this stuff. I have/had been purchasing everything on DVD. I am starting to run out of room, so it is about time that I record, rather than buy.

I have a Pioneer that has a Hard Disk Drive on it, stores about 35 hours worth of programming. I send it from my DVR to my DVD recorder, and then burn them out from there...it is nice having the HDD because I keep the space off of my DVR.

It was $300, but it's more than paid for itself with all the movies I burn off.

What model number? How well does it keep 16:9 vs 4:3 flags? How well does the audio transfer across? I am assuming that it uses S-Video as it's output right?

Its a Pioneer DVR 531H. It has 3 inputs and 2 outputs (both outs have S-Video, but I use component outs). Has digital audio input, and the audio transfer is spectacular.

It has no issue with flags, and it auto reads them so you don't have to do any changing in the menus.

There are tons of on screen editing items, and a lot of options. I'm very happy with it.

My only peeve is that if a show/movie is under two hours, it will burn it to DVD in 8 minutes or less, but if it is over two hours it will take the full time of the recording to burn it out. But that's not too big of an issue; I burn out the longer movies at night. It also has a TV Guide enabled DVR built in, but it's pretty crappy and my Cox DVR is a billion years better.

I am torn between that model and the Toshiba model. The Toshiba model has an HDMI output and upconverts standard DVD's to 720 and 1080. It also has a 160GB hard drive, vs only 80 for the Pioneer.

Oh. There isn't a different option on the DVR to record all shows. When you choose the record option, I always left the option on "One Episode" for some reason, and never thought to switch it to "All Episodes". When you switch to all, that is when you get the 3 addtional recording options.

I would definitely get the Toshiba one in that case. How much does that one cost? The larger hard drive and the upconverting is probably worth the difference.

I saw it on Amazon for $360. It used to be $315 a month or so ago, but I didn't have the money for it. The one that I am looking at actually has a 250GB HDD.
