Thanks for the offers. If I were single I'd stake both of you happily. But money at home is a bit tight these days, and let's just say that if I were to lose the bet, the cost would be a lot more than the nominal dollar figure.

Can we come up with equivalent stakes that don't involve money? I guess avatar bets don't cut it when someone is laying 20:1, but I'm open to suggestions.

Let me brainstorm. I'll think of something by tonight.

Well, I've read the whole thread. Eric's idea isn't that outlandish except for the possible league reaction to a forfeit.

It would probably have to be a virtual forfeit. Like someone said. Play the deep bench for 48.

But winning this game is not quite as unreasonable either for a couple of reasons.
1. This crowd tonight will be unlike any other crowd in the last 15 years of the Suns. In fact, I remember really enthusiastic Suns crowds, but I never remember an ANGRY crowd. It would be interesting to see how that factors in. Like I said in another thread that no one has read, put Sterns face up on the jumbotron whenever the Spurs go to the line.

I know a guy who has season tickets in the row directly behind the visitor bench. I told him to wear a hard hat tonight---seriously.

2. The Spurs are reeling from this. If they win the title this year, it will go down in history as the one gave to them. They already have one title with an *, they don't want another. There are Spurs fans who believe that the only way to avoid that is for the Spurs to lose tonight. I don't believe that they will do that, but the just CANNOT come out with the same intensity they have had before. They play dirty, but they are not a team that loves to have that rep.

3. We have some deeper bench players that have a chance to shine.

4. The refs have to be humiliated by this somewhat. You kind of hope they'll have a real short fuse with the Spurs tonight. Of course, that's what I always hope and it never happens.

I say, give it a shot, but pull the starters really early if the Spurs start to build a league.

I can't watch the game live. I'll tape it and watch it afterwards. Its just too hard on my nerves anymore. And the problem is the referreeing. That's what sends me through the roof.

At lease I can FF through all the commercials

It IS a bad idea. Nothing says "I'm a quitter" than forfeiting the game. This is the school ground equivalent of "taking my ball and going home." NO GOOD can come out of a Suns' forfeit.

I would love to see someone, ANYONE on the Suns come out and publically bash the NBA and it's decision making process, (fined, sobeit) but forfeiting is NOT what the Suns are about. I would lose a TON of respect for the Suns if they did that. Seriously.

Game Plan For Tonight:

1. Score early and often. Try to hit alot of 3's and open up an early lead. This will allow us to rest Nash as usual.
2. Get Duncan into foul trouble early. When he is off the floor, we need to take advantage of it.
3. Hope the refs tighten down on their calls
4. Double-team their best player on the floor and make the role-players beat us.

The Spurs have a history this season of letting down when a star player is not in the game. They lost to Yao-less Rockets, for example. Let's hope they can't handle the pressure of taking a game they are supposed to win.

Let's hope the Suns play with reckless abandon, because no one expects them to do anything tonight.

Nash is a great leader. If anyone can lead a team in this situation to victory, it would be him.

I have to hope that the good guys will finally catch a break, slay the giant, and/or prove that cheaters never prosper...

We're screwed, aren't we?
