Ayton can shoot....even threes. No need to gulp...we're fine.
A center that can rebound score in the paint AND shoot the three will always have great value. Watching Ayton all I can say is the guy is crazy athletic and coordinated for a guy his size.

You can’t look at other teams and think, how can we be like them. You have to think outside the box and create the next great thing. Booker, Jackson and Ayton are all pieces of the next great thing.

Crazy

And in other news DeAndre Ayton sneezed this morning and many feel he may now fall completely out of the top 5.

Let the games begin!

What kind of a sneeze was it? Did he have good form? Were his Arizona teammates around and, if so, did any of them say "bless you"? I hope he didn't throw out his back; then he's as useless as Michael Porter AND potentially suffering from a life-threatening illness. Also, I heard Bagley has a strong sneeze with great efficiency and I heard that Trae Young has never sneezed once in his life.

Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw DeAndre pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

The center poisition is not dead. The big lumbering back-to the basket post Game Center position is dead.

That type of center died a long time ago - with the likes of Joe Kleine, Luc Longley, Jake Tsakilidis, et al...

Yes, the Suns have had more than their share, too.

I'm just going to leave this right here...

My guess is Doncic would have not made these remarks if he were headed to the Suns and Kokoskov at #1.

Whew!

If he actually pulls this pre-draft, it’s bash worthy, but right now he might just be giving the political answer.

Someone here had posted an interview with Bill Duffy (Luca’s agent), where he said he was going to do everything he can to get Luca to the right situation here. He then said the playing under Kokoskov was ideal.

Maybe that is going on. Duffy had it easy if the Suns picks 2. Now he has to manipulate things.

So how can we find a way to come out of this draft with both Ayton and Doncic? Atlanta is a rebuilding team and would want many assets. Memphis might also like a trade.

So maybe, the Suns offer a boatload of picks to wherever he falls in the draft. My guess a player would have to be included to get it done like Warren.

yes, he'd play for Igor.
perhaps he can convince the other 13 teams ahead of us that he won't play for them either

Has anybody considered that the Suns might trade down to #2?

It’s happened before.

Or even draft Ayton then see if Doncic drops to 3 then trade with the Hawks.

Just like the Penny trade.

We want Ayton over Doncic though. The Hawks don't have anything enough of value.

What we can do is offer the Hawks or Memphis a combination of a Suns unprotected first next year, 16, Bucks pick, and Warren. The Hawks need to add a lot of young assets.

What if you got something ridiculous like Doncic and three #1 s for Ayton?

Who was involved in the Penny for Webber trade?

I prefer Ayton too but these things happen.

That's intriguing...

It's a lot to give, but I think the Hawks would say no before the Suns would. We would be adding Doncic and Ayton, plus maintaining a lot of cap flexibility to add free agents or make additional trades.

It comes down to how good one thinks Ayton is going to be. If he is going to be as good as Hakeem or David Robinson, I think you have to say no.

If we needed a Small Forward. Which we don't. He'll be happier elsewhere, even if his favorite Coach is here.

I can't help but think that, this year, we should have waiting to select a Head Coach until after the draft. What do you think? Perhaps there is no easy answer to that.

I dont think the game in traditional PG, SG, SF, PF, C terms, and havent in many years. You need Guards, wings, and bigs. Not saying you need a SF, but the more wings who can play multiple positions with a range of skills, the better, IMO. I think he makes a good fit next to Booker and Jackson, assuming some of the other additions would somewhat follow what I outlined elsewhere. That said, again, Ayton makes even more sense.

I got nervous watching tonight's Warriors/Rockets game. All I could think was, 'This is the future of basketball. Centerless.' And we're about to go all in on a big man. Gulp.

Its not centerless. You need a center who can stay on the floor with athleticism and skill. That center needs to be able to two of the follow: defend multiple positions, protect the rim, pass or shoot, space the floor vertically on dives out of the PNR. In extreme cases (see the Rockets vs. Warriors), a big needs to be able to do three of those. That is why you see more and more teams platooning the C position.

Its potentially awesome. How did we get Josh Jackson last year at 4? Because he refused to meet with the Celtics.

Doncic is controlling his draft stock right now. He is willing to not go to the freaking Kings and instead to a situation he likes.

So what if he falls a bit and then there is his old coach ready to move up and grab him.

THIS would explain why a team that clearly likes him would have their media mouthpiece bashing him. I couldn't figure it out.

I really don't think it's the case but it could also explain why Ryan and Dragic conveniently kissed and made up earlier this season. Goran and Luka are reportedly close.

We don't need anymore draft assets. We have plenty of future firsts.

We need top-tier players. Stand pat at #1 and take Ayton.
