Reading your quote of my post made me realize I failed to make the point I wanted in that last sentence. I was trying to say, whether the forum is pro Doncic or pro Ayton, I don't think there's much difference between the intelligence levels of .net posters, RGM Suns posters and the ASFN group. There's good and bad on all 3 forums.
Very diplomatic of you... ;)

I'm not trying to be diplomatic, I really don't see much of a difference. I do see a big difference in the quality of posters elsewhere (Facebook Suns groups, reddit etc.) but not with .net or RealGM.

RealGM is ok, but they are very set in their ways, and to be honest, a lot more active than we are here. .net's problem is that they aren't very welcoming to new posters.

It's funny you should say this, I've heard from several fans elsewhere that we have this same reputation (the Suns board, not necessarily the Cards board here). I don't know the .net posters well but I've read their stuff off and on all the way back to Az Central. They can be very clique-ish but we are too. But it is often a challenge to make your way into an established group.

Ha. I post on all three boards with the same screen name. .Net had that rep because you had to be approved to get posting access. But that was a reaction to the issues that prompted the start of the previous .net board years ago. I post on this board by far the most.

RealGM is a free for all.

The boards have been interesting about this draft.

Here--predominantly Ayton.
RealGM. About half and half but drifting toward Ayton.
.Net. Used to be pro Doncic by a lot, but drifting toward Ayton some.

Can't disagree with you there.

Just my 2 cents. I think Suns board is open to new posters so long as they do not join with guns blazing. The posters on this forum will talk to anyone so long as they are not rude. However, I wish the forum could retain more posters.

I will say this, the Suns forum contains some of the most informed posters around. Maybe this is intimidating to new posters. I hope not.

Have heard this is true. I know a couple posters on RealGM said that .net is very much a clique and if any of the new posters presents an opinion that differs from the clique’s opinion (which is always unanimously the same) then posters are attacked.

Based on their reputation, I think their a board that wants to keep to themselves and enjoy each other’s company with their own inside jokes and such and would rather not get new posters or differing opinions.

Yes, I am not necessarily remarking on anyone's intelligence. Just the propensity to dig in one's heels and not apply critical thinking. I think there can be a sense of group think, particularly among a discussion group that has existed for a while where one louder set of poster opinions dominate (as seems to be the case on Phx-Suns.net).

Real GM is more a case of anyone can sign on and claim to be a fan just to promulgate a point of view, troll, or what have you. In other words, more like the internet at large. I suppose that is more (small "d") democratic, but then so is stuff like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit... and all the way down to 4Chan. They are not always the optimal forums for exchange of intelligent ideas on any particular subject.

The biggest reason for this now is spammers. .net has a small moderating group and there is daily spamming when registration is open without hands on vetting.

Also flat out wrong.

Nope. Sorry but I'm going to call out BS. I can't speak for RealGM or other boards but I know this board and .net equally well.

Jackson/Bender/Dudley/#16 for Kawhi and #1/Chandler/Mia-1st for Towns

#Supateam

I'd be amenable to the 2nd trade but I think the Suns need to stay the course. However, I'd have a conversation about Towns.

I used to belong to Phx-Suns.net, too, and posted there regularly from probably about 2004 or so until maybe 2009 or 2010, sometime before they switched over to the new site. My experience was certainly different from yours. I would testify that it definitely had its clique-ish element. Maybe not everyone that posts there is or was like that, but there was a coterie of "cool kids" who tended to discount and belittle any opinion that differed from theirs. And going there now, I do still see many of the same users from back in the day.

They may be more welcoming of new members and there may be a softening of the regimented opinions since that time. I can't say if that's the case since I am not a member there any more or a visitor on a daily basis, like I am here.

I was there and posted as well for a little while, but it might have been even before you were there. I didn't think they were that negative towards new posters--it felt like they more or less ignored posters that were new or weren't part of the old school cliques. RealGM tends to much more respond to new posters, whether positive or negative.

Ah. I could see that then. The board was run by the original .net starter during that time period and he had a buddy that he let run wild on the site at the time that rubbed a lot of us the wrong way. Since then, once the '-' was added to the site address, it is under new "ownership" in one of the original posters, Marty, that runs it now. New posters are always welcome and there are many differing opinions. Right now in the current poll, Ayton is leading Doncic 30 to 25 as to who we should select #1.

Funny. I have been posting there since the old .net started and always felt I was a loner there. But none of us really know each other so I think we all are the same way. The only thing that really bugged me about the .net site in the beginning was the thread police mentality. They really did not like people starting new threads and would let you know about it.

.net tends to be a bit more vulgar and aggressive at times than this site. I think Bone is even nicer here.
