I was there and posted as well for a little while, but it might have been even before you were there. I didn't think they were that negative towards new posters--it felt like they more or less ignored posters that were new or weren't part of the old school cliques. RealGM tends to much more respond to new posters, whether positive or negative.

To be fair, it certainly was far from the worst forum I have ever participated in, in terms of that. All these things are relative. I am a fan of a variety of teams, not all Arizona based. For example, the Denver Broncos forum I post at is weakly moderated and is an absolute toilet stall in terms of courtesy. But I continue to participate there just because it is more active on a daily basis with new topics and news than other sites.

Another thing I grew to dislike about .net was that they used to compile every post under generalized headings like "Suns News - Week of May 7, 2007 to May 14, 2007" instead of under more specific topic headings... which made it darn near impossible to read posts without having to go through some lengthy thread. They seem to have lightened up a bit on that, so maybe it's more user friendly these days.

No argument there. I've never been there, but I've heard that the Suns reddit is absolutely brutal. Even Greg Esposito hates it.

Funny. I have been posting there since the old .net started and always felt I was a loner there. But none of us really know each other so I think we all are the same way.
That's interesting. I've always valued your opinion both there and here and never saw you as a loner.

And now to be really nostalgic, let's see if anyone here remembers the Az Central forums and the notorious "Cubby." :)

Raindog, i frequented .net back then and left about the same time because it was indeed too "clique-ish". i recently started posting there again because the new admin improved things significantly. unfortunately there is still a small element of alpha males, insiders/inside jokes and clique bias that i was uncomfortable with so i left.

Superbone, you were always the best thing about .net and i'm glad you post here too.

JC, yes the thread police were brutal but i respect their interest in organization. speaking of which, we're off-topic so to help tie things back together...

Ayton still only leading Doncic by 30 to 25 at .net is oddly out of synch and may be the kind of group-think we're talking about.
i'll bet Ayton polls significantly higher for Sun's fans in AZ overall.

Probably my fault this thread got off topic. Sorry for derailing the discussion.

I think we are all just antsy to get to the draft tomorrow night and see who we grab at 16 and 31, or if there is some surprise trade in store... and then get on to the other off-season moves that may be in store. The waiting for almost a month now has seemed like an eternity.

On reddit someone claims to have intel that the Knicks and Suns have a deal lined up if Porter is not on the board at 9.

16, Bender, Milwaukee Pick for 9 (Trae Young)

This sounds like a reasonable trade on the Suns end and they get to keep Warren.

Sure would rather it be Chriss. But that is actually a good deal. We keep Warren. In fact, that is a smoking deal if Young is there. I would guess though we would take SGA if Young is not there.

Bender, 16, and Milwaukee for Trae? That is just too good to be true.

But supposedly another condition is the Knicks have the option to switch out the MIL pick for the Suns number 1 protected pick next year if the MIL pick doesn't convey. That is a big stumbling point for me. I don't mind giving up the MIL pick, but our 2019 pick largely unprotected (which it likely would end up being) gives me pause.

As in the Knicks would take Porter at #9 to pair with the fragile Zinger?

I still do it, as long as we have decent protections on our pick.

If the Suns can protect their first round pick in next years draft I'm okay with it. Hopefully the Suns will have the pieces in place to complete most of their rebuild.

Well the Reddit guy (for whatever his "insider" knowledge is worth) is claiming it would only be Number 1 protected - at least as I read it. So number 2 on down, the Knicks would get it.

Again, it may be a matter of wording and he may have been ambiguous about the protection level... or he may be just talking out of his rear.

Then no way. I can't imagine that McD would go along with that condition, no matter how incompetent we think he is.

But we would get the Knicks pick

Most likely the Knicks and Suns picks are not going to be far apart or our pick worse anyway.

That said it seems like a clear hoax to me. No GM can be dumb enough to assign any value to Bender.

Bender has to be the worst draft pick in Suns history and the worst player to ever start x amount of games for the Suns.

Did you read it that way? I guess I didn't... well, maybe that isn't so bad. Almost 100% sure that isn't happening, as Knicks will be atrocious next year and we won't be.

Agree that this is almost certainly bogus anyway.
