Mullin was a knock-out shooter though. I don't see that from Doncic yet.
A play on words?
Some said the same about Ben Simmons and Lonzo Ball as well. Even though I think both Simmons and Ball have better leaping ability than Doncic. He looks really slow.

No... I don't recall that being said about either of them. Some said the same about Ben Simmons and Lonzo Ball as well. Even though I think both Simmons and Ball have better leaping ability than Doncic.
Arizona Sports (Empire of the Suns) gives their final mock.
They have the Suns taking Ayton at #1, Zhaire Smith at #16 and Jalen Brunson at #31.

This is the first I’ve seen Doncic explicitly state he prefers to play pg. I don’t know if that’s agent positioning or truth, but it helps to partially dispel a lot of people arguing he’s not a pg.Here's a really good article on Doncic that includes Steve Nash calling him a "dream prospect".

I just don't think he has the speed to play the position in the NBA. When I watch him play, he just seems slow. This is the first I’ve seen Doncic explicitly state he prefers to play pg. He's smooth. Magic Johnson didn't look super fast either. Doncic beats people with skill, not with quickness.
Might want to watch some youtube videos if you dont think magic johnson looked fast. Literally the only time that i have ever heard that take.
But in this thread i also saw someone say ben simmons was not thought of as fast entering the draft, which is completely made up.
I can live with that.
I didn't have to watch highlights of Magic
Nope. Doesn't look particularly fast. Magic was the master of angles and just general BBIQ. He was huge for a PG, just like Doncic. The reason I mention Magic is that Doncic will have to play a Magic kind of role to be effective, and luckily for him, Magic wasn't a quick twitch, above the rim kind of athlete either.
One of the things the video really doesn't cover much, Magic was the master of the quick outlet pass from back court to initiate the Lakers fast break. It made them so explosive.
I wish the NBA tracked hockey assists. I know some sites do now but since it's not something that has been recorded or recognized by the NBA for a set period of time there aren't a lot of people who put weight behind it. I know it's not an ideal measurement but I think you can get an idea of how well a player sees the floor overall by how many of those assists they have. I think some people tried touting Lonzo's court vision by mentioning his hockey assists at UCLA but I'm not positive in that regard. It is something I remember recently though where those were used to talk a player up and it made perfect sense but since the stats for that player and others aren't readily available it's tough to see what would be good or bad in that regard.

Some of those passes in his highlights were unreal...but Magic was NOT a quick beat you off the drible consistently kind of PG. That was Thomas from that era....
But he was no speed demon. He couldn’t keep up with a first step kj, Isaiah, Hardaway. It doesn’t make him any less incredible. That just wasn’t one of his many super powers.I can say this about Magic, he could do whatever he wanted on the basketball court. He didn't need to beat players off the dribble because he would do whatever it took to beat an opponent. And he made it look easy. He was so smooth, it looked like he played in slow motion. Believe me, Magic was not slow.
