OK, the finale has my household split! Cliffhanger or not? They did jump light years ahead in the last show compared to the comic. I must say in the comic there was more planning going into the battle with Negan. Looks like on the finale that may/may not happen. I still do not see how they can get throw a whole Negan battle by the end of the episode next week, imho. I expect cliff hanger big time. I could be wrong though.

I am usually not very critical about films, tv shows and such. Often, I read comments by folks on ASFN that I find way too negative, after a show that I actually really enjoyed..

But last night was just another loser episode. Even with the "fish eaters" involvement and the little surprise at the end, the show has just really fallen off from the first few seasons that I found really gripping. Now I feel like, "when is this over so I can go to bed".

Maybe with some of the characters I love gone, ie., Glen, Hershell..., there is just too much Rosita, Sasha, and Tara and they just don't cut it.

Of course, I will keep watching, hoping it gets better. If next season is like this one, they really need to cancel the series.

How was the end a surprise?

It was obvious last week that it was Dwight and by Daryl being with the others it was confirmed at the start of this episode.

If I remember the plot from the comics was a sequence of everything what is now looking like it will happen at once.

But they have no deal with the Kingdom ye.

I am perplexed why we are attempting to compare movie horror with TV? Completely different animals. I have completely different expectations. I have been just as critical of the lazy writing myself but really?

Plus the Pysho scene was considered graphic for its day. The blood swirling was considered graphic not to mention other scenes at the time were deemed violent and provocative. So much so it pushed censorship boundaries.

In terms of Jaws the movies music was iconic and they built tension but almost everybody talked about the munch scenes and the spectacle of the shark.

Honestly, we are in a new era of Television pushing boundaries of sex and violence which used to be taboo. Did the premiere take it too far? Maybe but I believe you have to take risks and push the envelope to figure out what that balance should be. Psycho for example spurred an entire generation of violent movies.

I felt this episode was THE most boring one yet. I guess, in the end, I was glad that no one was killed at Oceanfront, but they protect women too much in this show. Negan not a rapist? Please. I know, they can't really go there, but if that's the case--just don't go there AT ALL. Don't bring it up & have someone be all moral about that when every other aspect of this man is utter trash with no regard for anything about humans.

I absolutely agree. I said immediately afterwards; That episode was a big fat load of nothing. :(

especially when he's basically got sex slaves as wives.

and gotta love that you have the cliff-hanger of "who is Rosita looking at" at the end of the last episode... and then have the question not answered with a reveal, you know... with Rosita, but instead, it's answered simply by showing Darryl earlier in the episode. I just don't get it.

I also laugh at the fact that you set up a cliff-hanger with what's-her-face going alone last episode... and then just jumping over what could be interesting action of her getting caught and just going straight to her held captive.

it's just continually weird choices from a writer's perspective.

Agree with that last part. Kind of feel robbed not seeing the action that Sasha went through.

It felt like that moment in one f the season premieres when the quarry plan went horribly wrong and it ended with Rick trapped inside the RV with literally a hundred zombies surrounding it on all sides and the next episode started... with Rick running up to the gate.

It was like the writer's room went: "okay, let's leave off the episode with a great cliff-hanger... Rick SURROUNDED by zombies in the RV!" Then someone asked: "How does he get Out?" Oh... that's the next writer's problem and the next writer just decided... I have no idea how he gets out so why don't we just skip over it!

It's MADDENING from a writer's perspective. Such massive schmuckbait over and over and over again.

Agreed on all of that. It was just a really crappy episode. Can't even imagine how frustrating it must be from your perspective.

A) The fact that you just kinda blew off Jaws and Psycho is pretty ridiculous to me.

B) and Sure you can compare. Ratings were at their peak... got 17 MILLION views for the premiere and have plummeted 7 MILLION viewers since. You can't argue with a drop like that. I mean you can, but not sccessfully.
Those movies are a little behind my time.

I don't care how many people hate it, I like it! :) Plus I know some of what should be coming down the pipeline, and I want to see how they pull it off visually. :)

Imo in no way is it a best ever but it was far different than anything else and that made it good. I enjoyed it, once, don't remember much

I enjoyed the episode quite a bit, excited for the finale and frustrated it's the finale at the same time. The Oceanside stuff was cool and the stuff at the hilltop was interesting. Negan said he's heard Rick is planning something bad, I assume he's already heard from hilltop guy when he said that.

If he brings Sasha and Rick trots out Dwight it'll fail, negan doesn't give a poo about Dwight. Hell, he didn't even seem to care about the people Sasha killed one bit.

For the millionth time, just cancel fear and do TWD all year!

My biggest dread is not how this episode will end, if they leave us hanging at the end of the season again but the fact that means Fear the Walking Dead will be the only zombie action until this returns.

Now that is horror gold.

it'll be a big cliffhanger, it has to be.

But I am thankful that at least I will have something while waiting for walking dead to come back :)

Season Finale: Positively gawd-awful.

I will elaborate later after I cool down.

Why? Because literally nothing happened story-wise in the battle between Rick and Negan?

And after the latest collasal blunder of leadership decisions by Rick that should have gotten everyone killed, can someone designate Maggie the decision maker at this point?

My favorite thing about this was the tiger though. You'd think that as Negan kept monolguing ad naseum one
Of his peeps would have been like... yo... what's that tiger doing over there?

Seriously... That was beyond idiotic.

If this would have been Episode 8 before the break, I think it would probably would have made for a really good mid-season closer... but for a season ender, it didn't end the season. Finales are supposed to close up the major season arc while opening up arcs for next season. All this dead was... extend the story-line, again, now going into it's 3rd season. That just screams to me there just ain't a lot of story left to tell... which is a terrifying idea considering they're talking about 20 seasons.

bottom line... this would be THE BEST SHOW IN THE WORLD TO WRITE FOR (the job security is insane and the green envelopes will literally never stop coming) but an incredibly frustrating show to watch.
