Karl getting shot in the eye is straight from the comics.

It seemed like one of those episodes where they wipe the slate clean to start over with a new antogonist.

Yup, I've read the comics and thought they drug out the inevitable with Rick's crew. The Glenn being surrounded by walkers only to be saved by the returning Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham could be seen a mile away. I didn't care for how easily dispatched Negan's crew were to start the episode either. That was a huge disservice to the group as a whole. Any time trouble rears it's head now it'll be dismissed quickly because of how easily this group was dispatched.

I think Daryl needs to go, he's beyond ridiculous at this point. Not only did he play a huge role in the beginning but also saving the day at Alexandria and wasting a rocket launcher round plus a ton of fuel to draw walkers away and start a fire? Why not fire that round at a concentrated group?

I'll continue to watch because I'm a fan of most of the characters, Rick, Carol, Morgan, Abraham, and Negan, who I hope they can salvage after the less than ideal start.

Daryl's the only character they can't kill off. It'd end the show. Not for nothing did the Onion do that hoax article about Norman Reedus dying in a motorcycle accident and them immediately cancelling the show.

I agree without Daryl and Rick the show goes nowhere....apparently Daryl died in the comics....that would be a pretty fatal mistake for the TV series to make

I know it would come off of my DVR list

Daryl was never in the comics--he's a completely new character for the show. You might be thinking of Merle...

I agree that Daryl is the backbone of the show. Although I really like Rick, it's like sometimes they just don't know what to do with his character. Daryl has been pretty much consistent throughout.

And, of course, Norman Reedus is the perfect actor for the part.

Merle wasn't in the comics either. Neither Dixon brother have been in the comics. All of the crew are from the comics with the exception of Sasha who is basically Andrea from the comics at this point. She's a sharpshooter, still in mourning of the loss of Bob (for Andrea it was Dale), and a strong attractive female who is in her late 20's/early 30's. Others like Carol are no longer in the comics but they've changed her character so drastically from it's comic counterpart they really only share a name at this point.

I still don't understand the general appeal for Daryl. Being an original character isn't a bad thing, I enjoyed him in the first 2-3 seasons and really liked Merle as well, I'm a big fan of Michael Rooker, but having him around has stunted the development of Dale, Tyreese, Abraham, and even Glenn. All of those characters were Rick's right hand man at some point in the comics. With Daryl around as sort of a constant sidekick for Rick it's kept those characters from reaching the depths they did in the comic. I liked how they handled Tyreese overall and Dale's character was morphed into Herschel but Abraham and Glenn haven't shown to be any sort of leaders or real confidants to Rick.

Completely disagree. Daryl is the heart of the show in many respects. While many other characters have these huge roller coaster ups and downs he has been a constant in terms of the morality in the group. I think Daryl anchors the group even when it seems like it's about to go off the rails.

My bad, I thought Merle was in the comics. But I knew that Daryl never has been.

I really think they need Carol to step up as a character and get back to being a part of Rick's inner circle. Her whole conflict with Morgan has drifted her away. Same with Daryl, for that matter. Seems to me the only "leaders" of the group anymore (or at least, part of the leadership group) are Rick and Michonne.

Nothing says "nibble this" like an RPG Launcher.
That was awesome. Loved that one liner!

I really enjoyed this episode. Some crazy stuff going on. Yes the whole Glenn thing was pretty cheesy but overall a very entertaining episode.

I saw massive irony approaching with Glenn,.... when he made it back,..was recuing Maggie,..then started to get swarmed I was like,"ah ****, are ya ****ing kidding me".... I was gonna be mad if they let him die like that..... but it would have been a serious mind **** for Maggie, to finally see he is alive, only to watch him be eaten trying to save her.
these characters are experienced zombie folk...it always amazes me how a writer will write in a situation where a guy like Glenn allows himself to be cornered or backed up against a wall...it was obvious that could have been avoided.

That's what makes it more poignant. Glenn was knowingly sacrificing himself for Maggie.

beyond words. I was fast forwarding through most of tonight's episode.

Oh no.. Glen's trapped and can't possibly escape from a 100 walkers again... or can he?!

Rick's plan goes horribly awry... because nothing had happened 1/2 way through the episode and the walkers just decided to finally start eating people? Okay.

And a major character gets shot... IN THE FACE... AT CLOSE RANGE... AND DO THEY DIE?! I'LL BET YOU NEVER GUESS!
They started eating people because they were talking and standing still

I loved this episode. Seems to me to be the ultimate zombie killing episode we've been waiting for since the series started.
+100
:D :grabs:

BTW:

loved the highway showdown. Nibble this.
So awesome
excellent episode... it was pretty non stop. Lots of undertones in this one, and some mis direction.
That whole "Negan" thing,...dispatched with ease.....anyone think that aint coming back?
Negan has been cast
Outstanding! The dispatch of the Negans at the beginning was AWESOME. I thought for sure they were going to be captured and our trio put through hell. Really enjoyed the whole episode.
I thought negan was getting the rocket launchers. This was so much better

The Negan guys?!?! Awesome start to the episode. In terms of the walkers attacking?

Made sense to me. They were no longer moving and the kid started whimpering, the screaming started etc. I was actually disappointed that Jessie's character wouldn't be sticking around but that is TWD.

In terms of Glenn at first I was like...oh come on...fake out death again? However, if you read the comics, I now think his two fake out death scenes are every purposeful. They want the fans to think Glenn will keep escaping death.

This show just reminded me why it's light years better than FOTW.
Agree on Jessie.

I was irritated Glenn would back himself into the corner but thankfully our group all have the best aim of mankind. Maybe the infection improves weapon accuracy in people

Darryl rocks. There lake fire pulled every zombie into it, much more effective than blowing up one group

They do get a LOT of target practice.

They do, I fully accept it for what it is though, just funny when it happens. I don't care if you shoot non stop 8 hours a day for 30 years you still can't unload on a wall of people and magically miss the guy 2 feet from ten of them. They should have just not had Glenn get cornered, that was one of the only scenes that felt a bit lazy to me

Don't think too hard. Zombies are not real.

I think they're letting Glenn wiggle off the hook over and over so Negan can just kill him for no reason. Nine lives syndrome.

I don't, I'm pretty good at it with this show. I just chuckle and keep watching.

I agree with the sentiments of Glenn and his amazing escape powers, they are just messing with us now

Cops surround home, find ‘The Walking Dead’

http://www.greatfallstribune.com/st...ops-surround-home-find-walking-dead/80426428/

A 911 call came in at 7:28 p.m. from a neighbor who heard “screaming from a house about someone having a gun,” according to Great Falls Police Department notes from the call. A second caller helped the seven responding officers locate the house on the 600 block of 8th Street North.

GFPD Sgt. Brian McGraw said the officers surrounded the residence, responding to a disturbance possibly involving a gun.

“We had a whole bunch of guys on that one,” he noted.

The call notes say the officers heard “loud talking” from inside the home and observed “flashing lights.”

According to the notes, the officers saw two adults and several children, ages unknown, watching “a show about firearms” with two windows close to the TV opened. Everyone appeared to be OK.

McGraw said he later found out the show was the midseason premiere of AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” an hourlong drama chronicling life during the zombie apocalypse.
